Mods happened. Oldfags were turned away or banned during the scruffening, only fags were left. Then mods introduced alot of normie tier rulez. Essentially nothing remains of the old guard and the mods still have extreme hateboners against the userbase there.

I still remember the shier fucking animosity the mods had against us there. Was kinda incredible not gonna lie. Anyone that did anything fun got immediately banned. They killed off anything creative and fun. Banned alot of fun art and generals, writers etc cuz the stuff was demand "offensive" etc. The place was never the same after that. Then the mods -- much, much later – tried to reinstate some of the fun. But by that point it was too late. More or less all noteworthy artists had already left by that point. Only autists remained spamming useless shit over and over again.

No, we're dead here because the show went to shit in season 6 and then got worse in season 8. I haven't been to /mlp/ since 2014, but if I had to guess, I'd say they probably only survived seasons 6-9 because the users there were too attached to their barely-pony-related tripfag circlejerk fetish generals to abandon them.

First of all, porn is only good for jacking off to, which severely limits its artistic merit no matter how "good" it is. If the board is nothing but porn, then it's just a place for you to jack off real quick and then leave without doing anything interesting. And let's face it, most of the fetishes that have generals on /mlp/ are anything but good. Worse, a ton of the content they produce is barely pony-related at all, and therefore really has no place on a pony board at all. For example, "humanized" incest stories that just so happen to feature a character with a pony's name but otherwise seems to have nothing whatsoever to do with the pony in question.

But that's not even the main problem with /mlp/'s generals. For one thing, each general is a highly insular clique consisting mostly of tripfags who will use their threads as chat rooms more often than they'll use them as writing platforms. Any anon hoping to join a new general has to learn and keep track of the history, drama, and tripfags of it in order to participate without being screeched at by the tripfags and their orbiters, which is simply too much effort for anyone who isn't a natural born attention whore. For another thing, there are just way too many generals. When I left, there was a general for just about every fucking fetish imaginable. Fat pony general, incest general, transformation general, diaper general, motherfucking foot fetish general somehow. I'm sure even more have spawned since then. And every single one of them absolutely insists upon having an active thread on the front page at absolutely all times, completely regardless of whether or not there's any new content to share or discuss, and regardless even of whether or not the conversation has run its course. Nothing to talk about? Never mind that, my diaper inflation vore general #420666 faggot edition just slipped onto motherfucking page two, let me just throw a content-less "bump" in there to keep people from forgetting that I actually jack off to this shit.

The insular nature of generals, combined with the overcrowding of them on the front page, results in interesting threads about new topics being ignored, choked out, and slid off the catalog. Horsefuckers who can't find a general that they fit into find that they have no interest in any of the threads that are up, effectively meaning that they have no place in their own damn containment board.

Quite frankly, I'd rather have a board like /pone/, with a few interesting threads that move slowly and stay up for a few months, than a board like /mlp/, with a ton of boring circlejerks that move fast and have the lifespan of fruit flies.

I agree and disagree. Honestly I feel like you are judging the general fags abit too hard. Being in a specific clique/group isn't necessarily a bad thing at all. All homogeneous groups have their "good" and "bad" sides to them. It only becomes problematic when everyone gets "tunnel-visioned". However just because the "greatest hits" aren't getting produced regularly -- doesn't immediately equate the generals to being completely shit neither. As every now and again, good shit gets made in them. And because of that, I feel like they are "beneficiary" as a whole, even though it might take some time for quality to get made. Besides none is forcing you to partake in the drama. Just read the damn stories whenever they pop up, and skip the rest rofl.
