but that could take 9 months, maybe more.

HINT: the district attorney's office told me they've got "50 pages of defendants, and each page has 50 names on it"

(Of course, I'm assuming she was using arbitrary numbers, just to illustrate how backed up they are)

But yeah….. The other day, an assistant D.A. told me their current wait time for an indictment is 9 months to a year…

and you have to be indicted before a trial

Section 968.09 - Warrant on failure to appear

(1) When a defendant or a witness fails to appear before the court as required, or violates a term of the defendant's or witness's bond or the defendant's or witness's probation, if any, the court may issue a bench warrant for the defendant's or witness's arrest which shall direct that the defendant or witness be brought before the court without unreasonable delay. The court shall state on the record at the time of issuance of the bench warrant the reason therefor.

(2) Prior to the defendant's appearance in court after the defendant's arrest under sub. (1), ch. 969 shall not apply.

she's going to sit in that cell block until they call her name and Walker into the courthouse in the same building. She won't even have the luxury of seeing the outdoors from the windows of a jail transport van. She's going to be walked through the hallways to the courtroom, in handcuffs, where she's going to face the trial
