This only vindicates what he said (not what he did - what he said) and cements a hard core of dissident, white-aligned, people.

Trump saw none of this, or at least saw it only when it was far too late for him to do anything without getting himself and his family all imprisoned or killed. That point was probably somewhere shortly after he won and refused to resign in favor of Pence. Trump was not a Pied Piper nor was he a heroic savior, he was a shifty New York marketing guy who saw the opportunity for ego gratification and glory and applied his tried and true methods of selling overpriced stuff to idiots to win an election. He simply failed to understand how big the stakes were and how far the regime was willing to go to crush him. He underestimated the degree of their degradation and thus underestimated the actions that they would take against him.

Again, not a good guy or a bad guy, just a lame guy who was not up to the historic moment.
