Again she can sleep with some random guy, who she could end up falling in love with and running away, destroying the marriage and ruining her children’s lives, or she could go over to his cousin’s new house to help with some unpacking… so she gets her crazy fling (as does the cousin) but with someone she could never realistically run away with. In fact, in a society where incest was normalised, the husband and his cousin could both know about it and have an understanding – they will fuck each other’s wives when they begin to stray, to harmlessly satisfy their curiosity.

That is a good question, I think it will be a bit like porn though; seemingly everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Promiscuity is very visible, always having to introduce your flings to your co-habitants and friends, explaining why it didn't work out, and also takes a lot of energy (getting dressed up, going out, making effort with strangers where it might not work out etc). So it's no wonder there's a counter-trend towards less tiresome and less embarrassing modes of relationship.

However with porn and incest it's a lot more private and low effort, you don't talk about it in public, you're not expected to ever mention it. It can just sort of go on behind closed doors within one household, so much less effort and nobody ever needs to know. We'll probably never know how much it goes on because people won't self report. There's a subtle difference between porn convincing you to do something and convincing you that something is normal.
