Covid infection fatality rate is what flu would be without a vaccine, so nothing for healthy or anyone who isnt old and sick to worry about. Covid ifr is 0.2% according to Stanford, USC, Oxford, etc., studies of all worldwide data, flu is 0.1 but that's with a vaccine. Covid vaccine may never come (like with HIV and many other coronaviruses), likely very limited effectiveness if it does, and is no reason to wait.
More than half of covid deaths in hardest hit blue states died in nursing homes that were forced to not discriminate against covid infected new residents. 97.2% of covid dead aged 45+ and in such poor health that a flu or hundreds of other things would have killed them within months no matter what.
Open all countries and advise elderly or sick they may voluntarily quarantine. Herd immunity among young is only way to defeat covid, as with spanish flu, etc. New emphasis on delivery of food and everything else, telework, social distancing, never shaking hands will save millions from flu, etc., in future without needing to shut anything down or limit crowds.
BCG vaccine already effective against covid, other viruses, tb, even cancers. BCG is why asia, africa, south/central america far less affected by covid, while unvaccinated USA and Europe suffer for no reason. Just vaccinate with BCG and problem solved.
Effective covid treatments include remdesivir, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, zinc, famotidine or pepcid ac, stem cells, antibodies, etc.
