San Fransisco Failed, Germany Failed, Iceland Failed, there have been countless attempts to ban infant male circumcision that have failed despite having a majority support in the area? Areas where religious minorities are at an all time low, circumcision rates are essentially non-existent. Yet non-medically justified, routine genital mutilation (religious or not) continues to occur despite the gender counter part being forbidden by law.

What message does it send where males are violated at birth, while females have their bodies protected by law? Iceland hospitals refused to conduct infant circumcision and had signed agreements among the hospitals across the country to refuse such services as medically unjustified. As a result a vote to illegalize the practice was initiated which resulted in international uproar.

It's an extremely simple topic that people have an illogical habit of complicating. The right to inflict bodily injury on another persons body without their consent. Religiously motivated or not. I cant religiously mutilate animals. It's considered animal abuse.

The main contention I have, is to put the practice into perspective to see the true tragedy and the reason why it's not complicated to see why it should be illegal. To turn the infant, into a grown adult, and keep the situation identical.

You are 25 years old. Your parents have decided to take you against your will to the doctors, where people over power you, forcefully strap you onto an operating table, strap your legs and arms down so you can't move, and without anesthesia, take a knife to your genitals, cutting the most private part of your body as you scream in pain. This is something you'd expect in a scene from the Saw movie franchise. Not something we would callously turn a blind eye happening to infants.

So what are you thoughts on why so many countries have failed their own children to protect them from genital mutilation.

Circumcision is culturally based and not medically based. Cutting a penis to reduce the remote chance of penile cancer is like cutting a girl's budding breasts to reduce the chance of breast cancer.

That benevolent sexism still exists. As far as I am concerned, circumcision for both genders should be legal and accepted.

Again, where is the benevolence? It's not been anywhere near significantly researched enough to show it's an objectively beneficial procedure. The primary reason people support it is becuase of the belief it looks better, which is to say, not a reason at all. Forcing it on a infant is not only cruel, but violates the basic principle of bodily autonomy we uphold in other areas in society. I was cut and didn't want this at all. It's a pointless reduction to my capacity to enjoy sexual pleasure.

It's a bullshit hate crime against men is what it is. Manual restoration is the only way to increase sensitivity. This would have permanently stolen, as a newborn infant, and without consent, the most intimate and sensitive body part if not for initiative (research) and persistence (repetition).

All children need to be protected from genital cutting, whether they are male, female, or intersex.

It is not uncommon for intersex children to be castrated or otherwise mutilated, to make their genitals appear closer to the gender their parents think they will identify with. Around 1-2% of people are born intersex, This person was born with female genitalia and internal testes, and they were castrated as an infant. Because of their castration, they were forced to take hormones to go through puberty. If their testes had been left intact, they would have been able to develop more normally.

Everyone should watch the documentary American Circumcision. It's a great film about Male Genital Mutilation in the US.

It should be banned, however it isn't a large enough issue in the western world for anyone outside of the US, doctors don't push for it as much in europe and the few that get it aren't really a significant enough population to kick up a fuss. The US is special in that regard since it's for some reason weird oligarchical social engineering shit doctors actually push for it and can make a profit off of it. Jews and muslims are of course opponents of a ban, but it's not like legislation could not include an exemption for them even though it shouldn't. Overall it just isn't large enough of an issue to actually become a serious political platform, the sensitivity issue is a case by case thing, and women and uncut men don't really have significant sympathy for people complaining about their lost foreskin

I have what might be termed survivor's guilt on this issue. Maybe not true survivor's guilt in the PTSD sense, but anytime this topic gets brought up or I think of it randomly, my blood boils to think of all my friends and family, and compatriots who I will never meet, who had this done to them. You're right that most people don't think it's a big enough issue to warrant such strong emotion, but given what I know (namely how conniving the medical establishment can be, and how religion pseudojustifications factor into it), I certainly feel warranted in my strong emotions.
