What is IPFS?
IPFS is a better version of BitTorrent, where people can share files and/or folders using SHA256 Hashes.
How do you use it
https://ipfs.io/docs/getting-started/ has some basic instructions if you are/tech/-savvy.
For something more GUI oriented https://github.com/bogdoslav/ipfs-windows-installer
Where can I learn more about it?
>>>/ipfs/ (And >>>/ipfs/9 has plans of making it more accessible to others)
Are there any examples?

It would be awesome if we could get an IPFS of what was /zundel/.
If any anon has it, please upload and post hash. I'd pin it.

thank you for this thread, OP. I have been dying to get on IPFS but I'm a brainlet and can't figure out how to use it in command line only.

Ok so I installed it via the gui link you provided and got to the page in pic related. Where do I go to download stuff? do I just type things out in command prompt? I need straight up step-by-step instructions, I am really boomer-tier on this one

IPFS creates a hash for all content that you want. Every bit of content on the network has a hash. Directories have hashes too.
Once you have IPFS installed, put this in your command line to get the content you want:
ipfs get %Hash for the content you want%

Bumping for what is a very understated level of potential here.
I imagine most people here strive for some level of permanency in their content. And it's a miracle that this board isn't targeted more heavily and more often, with how ripe for DMCA claims it is, but I wouldn't rely on that lasting forever.
What would be in the best interests of everyone here is mirroring as much of the board's content so far on IPFS and in directories (that you can create like pic related) as possible. Even in a fragmented case, e.g. one anon decides to index the language content, and another one decides to index the history content, it would be a cinch to link between both of these, and any other indexes that get created. Like >>9294 said, snatching things is extremely easy, and if a site is already up - which has no chance of being blocked, unless every node is DDoS'd at the same time, constantly - it is as simple as just clicking a hyperlink.

Ok, tried it for a bit. Two things:
How is it better/worse than Zeronet, apart from being /ourspace/?
There is a general lack of easily accessible content and some cataloguing would be nice.
I keep getting my down speed constantly drained while the app is open.

One is a protocol, and the other is a website. You're comparing apples and lamps.
>>10677
I see somebody is new to DHT.
>>10679
OB has some great libraries, and is an excellent basis for the indexes of the future. Do not think of traditional 'websites' in communicating data with one another - think of how we can use the protocol to discover lists of files already hosted on IPFS (or BitTorrent magnet links, or anything/anywhere), and send them to each other while retaining the ability to update them.

IPFS is not a 'libgen alternative'. The 2 could be used in conjunction, if the sysadmins permitted it.
