Tbh I just stroked my brush over all the areas I'd eventually want. So I probably am overreaching, at least in the early stages.
I think there's an opportunity to establish myself overseas in the initial chaos of the warlord era though.
My overseas effort into France would consist of me sending my largest war party over the shortest distance over the channel. They would be a blood thirsty band. They'd run through the villages in the morning screaming and giving people small axe wounds - there'd be no fighting just injuries and intimidation. Then they'd come at night and play waste to the villages. We'd attempt to keep all the men and boys alive for enslavement. They'd be used to help build the forts in strategic defensive positions or as meatshields when dealing with other warlords.
There'll be a large emphasis on building, capturing or holding strategic positions along the coast. That way I will have easily defensible positions which I can flood with soldiers from England.

I intend to hold the parts in England denoted by light red. The crimson areas are the points I need to take areas of the continent. I want to establish as many coastal areas as possible with forts, so that I will be difficult to remove from the continent. That's why there's the force going to Holland. So I can establish forts at the same time I'm attempting to control the northern french coast. Once I have it under my control I'll send them up through belgium in the pink territory, and unite them with the force in Holland.
