>he unironically thinks that the B-52's would be better without Fred Scheider's vocals
You see most people don't like Schneider's vocals because they're too clever and cerebral for the uninitiated. His vocal style is based on the tried and true German art of Sprechgesang. Without a decent level of understanding of Romantic German operas, it would go over the heads of most English listeners, who would dismiss it as atonal and ugly. However, as an intelligent Aryan man, Fred Schneider knew that the B-52's needed to set themselves apart. In fact, even the song Mesopotamia is a cryptic reference to Schoenberg's classic "A Survivor From Warsaw". I'm laughing right now imagining all these idiots who can't even play an instrument chiding Schneider for his unorthodox and brave lyrical style.
