My local dadrock station is shutting down today. It feels like a piece of my soul is being forcefully being ripped out of my body. It's been a constant in my life, no matter what hour or what day if I was in the car and needed something to drown out the silence it was there for me. And now it's going away. I can replace it with podcasts or a playlist but that piece of my childhood is going away and never coming back. I hope you anons are clutching to the stations you have, especially if you have ones to jump between when the ads come on, triple that if it has been around since they day you were born and nurtured your soul as your grew. I envy you greatly.

Dad rock being classic rock. I did like it. My dad listened to it, and by proxy so did I. I grew to like it, expanding into prog rock, which they occasionally played.

That sucks anon. I've lost a few dadrock stations either dropping off the earth or simply because they shifted to more modern rock. Weird suggestion, I don't know if it's possible or what, but see if you can contact whoever is left at the station and somehow get a recording of their bumpers. If you're ever feeling really down and really really miss things, you can get it mixed into your dadrock playlist and really get the feeling of the radio.

Sometimes you just need to listen to the radio and not worry about picking the next song or setting up a playlist or picking out a podcast, and if you're going to do that you don't really have much choice in radio stations. Around here all we get is Spanish radio, dadrock, top 40, or talk radio. Out of those choices you're pretty limited.

Good luck, maybe try setting up your phone with some online radio stations. Most local radio station these days broadcast online too.
