>Lyrics aren't really compulsory for a song to be good
>Why deviate from a good thing, routine for a cool thing is good
Because it gets boring and stagnates, in the case of Van Halen it would've been nice to see the band go in a more progressive and complex direction sound-wise because girls and partying gets boring for more than 1 or 2 albums.
>that wonderful harmonizer Michael Anthony could sing any lyric and make it sound rocking
And they kicked him out for Eddie's pudgeball son to make the band's name reflect on it being a family thing.
>I don't know how one could hate diamond Dave's voice, he has such a mellifluous voice and again thanks to the brilliant basis he gets some great harmonies
He sings flat and has a hard time singing, live performances highlight this and with age it's getting worse.
I admit Diver Down is a good album though and I don't see the praise of Fair Warning from fans over their other albums when it sounds the same as the others.
