I've been listening to a lot of instrumental guitar music from guys like Buckethead and Joe Satriani. Are there any similar artists or specific albums you lot recommend?

Mein nigga ^_^

No joke I'm looking into getting some diamond Dave styled glam jeans from a seamstress

>>83452

>shit lyrics

Lyrics aren't really compulsory for a song to be good, they're non confrontational and serviceable in telling a story about good times with grills also house of pain had great lyrics you can't deny that besides diamond Daves voice and that wonderful harmoniser Michael Anthony could sing any lyric and make it sound rocking,

>same sound

Why deviate from a good thing, routine for a cool thing is good

>shit singer

I don't know how one could hate diamond Daves voice, he has such a mellifluous voice and again thanks to the brilliant basis he gets some great harmonies.

>Lyrics aren't really compulsory for a song to be good

>Why deviate from a good thing, routine for a cool thing is good

Because it gets boring and stagnates, in the case of Van Halen it would've been nice to see the band go in a more progressive and complex direction sound-wise because girls and partying gets boring for more than 1 or 2 albums.

>that wonderful harmonizer Michael Anthony could sing any lyric and make it sound rocking

And they kicked him out for Eddie's pudgeball son to make the band's name reflect on it being a family thing.

>I don't know how one could hate diamond Dave's voice, he has such a mellifluous voice and again thanks to the brilliant basis he gets some great harmonies

He sings flat and has a hard time singing, live performances highlight this and with age it's getting worse.

I admit Diver Down is a good album though and I don't see the praise of Fair Warning from fans over their other albums when it sounds the same as the others.

Glenn Phillips is a hell of a player I've been listening to lately with lots of solo records. Check out Lost at Sea and Music to Eat, by the Hampton Grease Band.

Also Jerry Garcia. I know Grateful Dead/jam bands are loathed in most music forums and shit, but damn, that man can play some absolutely ridiculous shit. 7/1/73 Playin in the Band. Or 6/18/74 Eyes of the World. 5/12 Truckin>Jam>Other One>Jam is retarded. Simply google the date and pick a source from archive.org. Soundboard recordings are preferable.

I've been listening to a lot of instrumental guitar music from guys like Buckethead and Joe Satriani. Are there any similar artists or specific albums you lot recommend?

Here's my recommendations:

>The Aristocrats - The Aristocrats

>Greg Howe - Extraction

>Marty Friedman - Scenes

>Bireli Lagrene & Sylvain Luc - Duet

Skip the Greg Howe one if you don't like fusion jazz. The Bireli Lagrane & Sylvain Luc one is 2 guys playing jazz covers with an acoustic and an electroacoustic guitar. Skip it if you don't like jazz.

Much of Robert Fripp's work might suit your taste, although there will be some lyrics in King Crimson's work.

Check out Fracture from Starless and Bible Black

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMnE14x6Dzw

Also his extended solo on Eno's Baby's on Fire is some of the most "evil" sounding guitar ever recorded.

Bill Frisell is a modern guitar genius.

John Mclaughclin with Mahavishnu Orhestra

Allen Holdsworth is another one to check out. Check out his solo on Jean-Luc Ponty's Nostlgic Lady
