Is psychedelic rock just not what I think it is? I've yet to find anything that tops pic related. Most of it just sounds like shitty garage rock or a boring drone fest. I just want something trippy/magical sounding, like Pink Floyd's Saucerful of Secrets. Maybe even something like The Plastic Cloud, even though it's more reserved there's just something about it.

Have you tried Hawkwind? They are like Pink Floyd's wilder brother, come from the same scene and so on. Most people know them for having had Lemmy Kilmister in their band for a brief period of time. But they really have an endless back catalog. The really early stuff is more jam oriented, later albums such as Warrior On The Edge Of Time or Hall Of The Mountain Grill are more composed. The best way to describe them would probably be to listen to the Space Ritual live album.
