The outbreak continues to gain speed, there are at least 90 cases 10 of which are healthcare workers. 49 are dead including one of the healthcare workers. This in addition to he fact that several areas are too dangerous to send workers is a sure sign the outbreak will continue to spread!

Update:

The number of cases is believed to have risen to 96 with deaths up to 55. The WHO chief paid a visit to the area and said he was 'actually more worried after the visit than before' even going so far as to ask the over 100 different groups to cease hostilities. In addition while this outbreak is also of the Zaire strain just like the previous outbreak the WHO deputy director of emergency preparedness and response revealed it is genetically different. hopefully different enough for the vaccine to be ineffective

http://archive.is/VFdQ6

The number of possible contacts has been lowered to 1,609 rather than 2,157. In addition to this healthcare in the region has now been made free for the next 3 months in an effort to get people to come forward for treatment.

http://archive.is/AIHdW

Given that many areas where cases are possible are war zones as well as the fact this area borders Uganda I'm thinking that ebola-chan will eventually hop the border.

GOOD LUCK EBOLA-CHAN

Update:

There are now 59 deaths from Ebola and 102 confirmed and probable cases of Ebola in the DRC. 4 new experimental treatments from (((Israel))), Japan, America, and another known as Regn3450 – 3471 – 3479. There have been approximately 1700 vaccinations conducted in the area(the same vaccine made by Merck used in the previous outbreak) and WHO of Uganda has preemptively set up hospitals in the event of Ebola crossing the border.

GOOD LUCK EBOLA-CHAN

Update:

The number of deaths has risen to 61 and I am pleased to report the number of confirmed and probable cases has risen above 100 to 103 total. With the number of casss and deaths rising daily the Response of Who and other health organizations must be rapid and total in order to stop the spread of Ebola.

Fortunately the region where this outbreak started is prone to violence between over 100 different militia groups which has created several different "red zones" where medical personnel cannot operate. In addition to this There are over a million displaced in the area. Helping to make one of the most densely populated areas in the country.

To combat these red zones the WHO is working with the DRC army to temporarily secure some areas in order to treat patients. Despite this there are still grave concerns about Ebola spreading and crossing the border.

Ebola-Chan lives in this region, so there will always be the occasional outbreak. However the outbreak of 2015-2016 got as bad as it did for a couple different reasons.

1.it happened in an area that doesn’t see as many outbreaks as frequently so many health professionals were unaware of how to properly respond

2. The global health community was slow to respond when news of the outbreak broke. By the time they got their act together Ebola-Chan had already spread.

3.Ebola-Chan managed to get into a densely populated areas such as cities and slums. Thus making her very difficult to deal with

This outbreak is similar to the one from 2015 and 2016 but the main difference is that the DRC has had 9 other outbreaks before this since 1976 so they do have experience. This is already a far better position than the west African nations like Guinea were in 3 years ago. To add to that there is a vaccine that is being used that seems to work as well as several experimental drugs and treatments that show promise.Ebola-Chan being a virus however I suspect she will soon change and render the vaccine less effective or even useless. Especially considering it only targets a single protein rather than a weakened form of the entire virus

But the what is causing groups such as WHO problems is the fighting between militia groups, creating red zones that health workers cant go into. Now the army is providing escorts so that WHO can enter the area for a short time but they still cant reach all the areas. On top of this there are over 1 million displaced people living in refugee camps. Many of these people are very mobile and there’s a high chance that it may eventually cross the border. It is for these reasons everyone is worried. They cant track everything because of the violence and the vaccine doses only number in the thousands. If they cannot stop Ebola-Chan early on then this will soon spiral out of their control.

GOOD LUCK EBOLA-CHAN

Update:

There are now 105 confirmed and probable cases and 67 deaths. One of the newly confirmed cases is from a doctor residing in Oicha. The city itself is not a red zone, however all of the roads and surrounding territory is occupied by the Ugandan militia group allied democratic forces making getting to the city without military escort nearly impossible. In total there have been about 2900 vaccinations. Uganda has implemented protective measures to prevent Ebola-Chan from spreading to Uganda. So far they’ve not found anything but they are playing it safe. It will likely be another week or two before they figure out if their efforts have been enough or if Ebola is still spreading.

GOOD LUCK EBOLA-CHAN

To some extent, I think the four riders as they are generally depicted make sense for the idea that it was a meme about the fall of an empire.

>War

War spreads because the empire is constantly devouring outside entities to sate its resource hunger. Then, because of corruption, immigration, etc, war turns inward as various internal feuds break out into violence.

>pestilence

Trade routes are great at getting you anything from across the empire. This may include diseases. Farther travel means a disease can travel a farther distance and not be quarantined. Granted, the black plague had nothing to do with trade.

>famine

Specialization in regions, and noble greed means that famine is more likely to occur. Since every region isn't just looking out for itself, but the empire as a whole, you don't want to waste resources by having some of your youth farm, when they could be mining ore for the weapons/jewelry enjoyed by the empire. Plus, nobles love some hunting and nature reserves, so they will get pissy about needing more farm land for mere peasants when their needs, either hunting or just enjoying the wildlife, are clearly more important than the ones making their fucking food.

>death

The above lead to the fourth.

However, that is correct and it should be conquest and not pestilence.

a3e848  No.368585

Update: there are now 115 confirmed and probable cases of Ebola in the DRC as well as two confirmed cases within the yellow zoned city of Oicha. There have been 77 deaths. The response to this outbreak is much more difficult than before due to community resistance, conflict within the region, and the rapid spread of the disease. While the number of new cases has decreased in recent days the inability of health organizations to regularly access the so-called red zones prevents them from saying the situation is stabilizing. If so much as a single infection was missed the out break could spiral out of control. There have been 4,500 vaccinations completed and 17 successful treatments of patients. This outbreak has the potential to be “the worst in recorded history”

I LOVE YOU EBOLA-CHAN
