I don't know. On the one hand, you've got the traditional arguments against female suffrage that seem to have been themselves out since that movement took over western democracies, and it's tempting to apply those same arguments to a female ruler. On the other hand, there are a lot of good examples of female rulers.

No, they can not. They can hold the position until the first Prince becomes a King, but not actually claim an official position of power.

They can. Only truly good and capable women could even come to power. History more or less proves this; the number of male sovereigns far outnumbers the number of females, but the few females that manage to come to power have been (by and large) capable. Catherine the Great, Mary Tudor, Elizabeth I, Maria Theresa, for examples.

Also, that’s not to imply that male primogeniture isn’t the preferable system. Male children should superecede older sisters for the throne, but no need to go searching through distant cousins or fighting wars to prevent a woman from coming to the throne.

No, even entire languages disagree where in Slavic languages Queen means only "King's Wife" and isn't a title with any power.

Best female King was Jadwiga, because she got married of quickly to ensure she doesn't fuck up anything.

Also, majority of wars were started with female Kings in charge.

If there is a great deal of chivalry and honor, a woman makes a splendid ruler. With feminism, hell no. My take is it depends on the men around the woman.

>women monarchs as ideal

No. I am worried republicans are relaxing hereditary principles and reinforcing their egalitarian dogma to emasculate the monarchies. The less chance for males to take the throne, the less vigor and virility for a monarchy to return through generational strength and reclaim itself. Males are authoritative and a monarchy needs good men in this dire hour.

Only if they are capable and wise enough to rule otherwise it will destroy the nations. Any royal family members should be elected based on the merit, military experience and health rather than to inherit the rod when the King/Queen dies. We don’t want the insane person to rule over us, do we?

>insane person

There are two answers.

1st. the insane person is disqualified from the responsibilities of sovereign authority.

2nd. a regent takes the place. This is the same scenario for children ascending the throne.

>should be elected

No.

>based on merit, military experience, and health

This is where kingship and hierarchy should begin. It doesn't happen through elections, that's for sure. Meritocracy and aristocracy don't need a conflict.

>meritocracy

Meritocracy is insufficient alone for the institution of monarchy. It needs spiritual willpower and hope, loyalty and honor for the ascending throne with noble men surrounding it.

Yes, depending on the Royal domain and the laws of succession.

That said, Elisabeth II has failed as Queen, and her crown is forfeit.

Why? The UK monarch pledges to defend the realm. She has clearly failed in this to the utmost degree. Even the capital city of the former Empire is mostly non-British.

Queen Elizabeth II is the best anglos are going to get for a good while. The parliament definitely has failed the people10x more than the Queen. The active political bodies usurped authority and used it to propagate these laws. And democracy? Look at the muslim Mayor of London. No better. The United Kingdom is ruled by a gentle old woman, a grandmother, and largely discredited from using theoretical authority.
