One of the hard lessons I got in life is that people by nature are in most cases ungrateful. No one likes to feel they owe something to someone. Double so when they didn't ask for what was being done for them.

Even if you don't take into consideration that halfchan isn't the bastion of OC it used to be the general idea I was referring to was that people there (/v/ especially) tend to want to hate on anything and anyone they can put a name on. If you become known or if you appear in front of their eyes regularly, you are gonna have a hard time.

MM can and has flown under the radar along with the OC made there because it was infrequent enough but chances are sooner or later trolls were going to notice and begin targeting people.

MM has always had a problem with "get this weeb shit out of here" fags and "these threads aren't vidya" fags. Like you so well put it in the pics you've made for MM, you should ignore those posts.

I was going to give a funny example of my encounter with one of those types of posters but it's a bit long and redundant.

Ok I'll try to make it short. Basically this guy tried to complain that we weren't talking about the games so I decided I won't ignore and humor him for once so I told him: "Okay, faggot. You wanna talk about games I'll talk about the games. Cue game questions."

I'm not sure about this but I remember at one point since I was always about saving pics from MM except OC ones since my idea was to save pics from the fandom in general while OC was specific to private MM happenings I noticed that at one point I began saving from image bump limit threads only like 10 or 15 pics. Which means that the whole thread must have been 240 OC pics. I can't confirm if threads like those existed but you have to realize it was inevitable they would attract negative attention if I'm remembering correctly.

So when people came in to complain or were not being grateful to OC providers in general there is no way for you to know if they even were from MM in the first place and not random fags.

You… don't know about this, but I had a few phases. Once before I left MM, I disappeared from everywhere for about a week. I was really doubting if it's ok to keep posting like this.

It's one of the reasons why I started to keep my posts to a minimum. You see the reason why I save pics from places like these more than sites where authors upload them is because they are hand picked by people. They are in a way filtered by the posters taste and what they like so often they are best of the best. While when authors post them themselves on site like pixiv the only variable is the authors ability to draw so quality varies greatly plus there is no end to them while here everything is quantified by what people are wiling to post and post limits.

Well I could tell the story but it's very off topic.

Basically I did only quality posts, I wanted to contribute to the quality of /v/ but it was one of those days you know and all these dedicated shitposting threads were spawning up so I thought, well why not I'll give it a try. It's funny because I actually had no idea how to shitpost it was my first time. I had nothing to post with too. And when I say shitposting I mean one of those shitstorm style threads when some big controversy comes and everyone just shits the bed. I mean absolute meltdown, threads with nothing but trolls - trolling trolls trolling trolls and posts like just the word nigger, nigger, nigger over and over and frogs and memes and just… you have to see it to know what I mean. It's not what people here call shitposting.

So I do a post or two in this thread of literally 200 unique IPs and 380 posts and a bit later among all the crap and absolute chaos there's this one guy that out of everyone there only posted to me and asked me calmly and inquisitively I don't remember what he said or asked exactly but I was the only one talked to that way and he probably knew which two - three posts were mine but I didn't realize it at the time. He basically asked what was going on why I was doing this or something of that sort to which I replied like if to a normal anon, I said something of the sort of:

"I don't know what has come over me but I find shitposting invigorating, I wanted to give it a try." he's like, well what's the next step of your master plan and I'm all like:

Crashing this plane with no survivors!

No I'm joking it was before that meme, I think. But basically said something to the extent of "well I'll shitpost some more" bam, perma banned second later, minutes later thread deleted. Then I realized I was talking to a mod all that time but I can't prove it.

But just think. An absolute shit thread where you would ban everybody and delete immediately there was this one guy who probably wasn't quick to ban but was actually checking out post histories and was confused why this guy with all these normal and informative posts was going full retard all of a sudden and decided to see what the deal was, saw that I had fallen to darkness and was going to be trouble so I left him with no other choice. Still he took time to not act quickly and cared.

But point was I wasn't even mad, I was very impressed. It's how you do it. You post like a normal anon, give them a false sense of security to see their intentions and then you whack em if you have to. It's imperative that a mod never reveals that they are a mod because in the vast user-base of /v/ it creates turmoil. It's why there aren't any public bans anymore and mods can lose their position the second they reveal themselves. So they hide like mofos but they still post like normal anons and have fun and take part in threads. Which is very good because if more people are aware of that maybe people would be more polite in general when you have to think twice if this random anon you are about to call a retard isn't actually a mod but people are so new most of the time they probably don't realize mods exist.

At the end of it all I never tried shitposting again. My ban was for quoting many people in a row and I mean half the thread which is flooding and avoiding the spam filter.plus I tried posting a frog but that is besides the point.
