I guess I'm pretty lucky in the natural disaster areas. I'm too far south really for any hurricanes and earthquakes here are pretty rare and when they do happen they're mostly just small tremors. Bush fires can get pretty bad over here, but I don't live in a bush fire prone area though.

Relatively often, yes. There were several occasions where a hurricane got really close to my city, but they either became minor storms, or they deviated from their paths.

The problem is that it's 90% luck this time. It's a challenge called Ultra Hard, and there are no health drops, so you can't heal by conventional means and you can't see the items you pick up, so if you take a bad item it'll fuck your entire run, like it happened twice to me.

Yes, some items give you regeneration (either waaay slow or you need to kill enemies) others can give you a pretty nice full heal once. There is even one item that gives you regeneration when you're caught in a explosion.

Idk what happened at work. It seemed like I was in the clear and was going to get hired, because a lot of departments were going to see retirements, and there's a whole new department that needs new people, but every single temp got laid off around the second week of December and no one has gotten a call back at all yet. They lied to me instead of just saying they don't need me, which is weird. Guess stuff is happening there.
Hopefully this new place that I have had an interview with calls back. I will make a quarter more than before, but if I get hired, I'll only go up a dollar as opposed to going up 10 dollars, should the last place have actually hired me. That would have been a very lucky break at my age though, so I'm not so upset about it.
Car just needs inspected and likely will need a lot of stuff done to it. Since I haven't been working for a month and a half now, I'm running low on money, so I might not be able to deal with it.
The cancer is all over, including in the bones, and radiation isn't possible because he already had the maximum done (he had cancer before), which is supposedly the best treatment, I guess. They're going to go with aggressive chemo, a shot I believe, but I have a hard time believing he will be okay with chemo. He is already weak as it is due to everything he's dealt with in life. I can't take care of him if I need to work, but if I don't work, I don't know if the family will be okay financially. My whole life has been helping him and repaying him for all he's done for me since I was born, when he didn't need to do any of it. If he leaves, my main objective will be gone, and I don't know what I will do with myself.
If I get my own health insurance, it would save a few hundred dollars for them at least, but I likely would lose coverage on this shot that I now get 3 times a year. Each one is $16,000, but we only pay $20 per shot as is. It took about 2 years to finally be able to get these shots, but 10 if you include the years of me not being of age to get them to begin with. I imagine it would come back worse if I stopped treatment before it reaches full remission, and I would be gross looking all over.

I am young (20), it's my grandfather, but my grandparents raised me. My grandfather fought so hard to convince my mother to let me live with them instead, because she was a teen mom that had a horrible boyfriend at the time and yada yada yada… He sacrificed his precious years where there's no more kids in the house to see me grow up fine. He was only 45 when I was born, so at that point in his life, he was still able to do things, too, so I can't help but feel I held him back in many ways. Plus it's not like he choose for my existence like other parents wish to have kids. Usually having kids is a choice, but he took me in for my sake. My mother didn't help raise me at all, really, and of course this led to uncomfortable family situations. She was getting money to raise me from my father, too, but she just used to live off. I won't go further than this though because it's just not really stuff to talk about.
TL:DR
My grandfather is the most respectable man I've ever met, and he's done way more than a normal parent would or even has to do, so it hits really hard.

Also by 'sleeping', I mean he's an extreme alcoholic. Whenever he gets a pay check he tends to spend all his money on a binge drinking spree which usually leaves him laying on the floor almost dead until the ambulance comes and saves him. During this time he's usually out of work for a few weeks or months which is why we call him Cat. He's done this so many times, that everyone pretty much just expects him to do it at this point, and in fact he did about a month ago. I have to pick him up because he smashed his car drink driving maybe a year ago, and he probably lost his licence in the process, but I'm not too sure about that. He's a good worker and an alright person though when he's not drinking of course
