Hey /loomis/ idk if this is the place to ask but I was wondering if you could help me out?
I want to try and draw illustrations like the fighting fantasy books (pic related), any idea what this sort of style is call or any tips on how to get good at it? Prcatice will help, I know but I was wondering if there was a rule of thumb for contrasting black and white that could be used as a starting point.

No idea how it's called.
As to style itself, first learn about anatomy, perspective, and shadows. Then distort them to fit certain style. That's all there is, really. You just have to learn by coping images and then trying to emulate that style when making new ones.
To me, image seems to be made with ink, so you will need an ink pen to get the same effect or just use Photoshop (or other software).

Fundamentals always have to come first my man; if you do want to mimic an established style you'd do well to learn how to draw without stylization first as shitty as that is

That's understandable. Maybe take a look at Albrecht Durer and Gustave Dore for more inspiration.
