Hey, guys.

I've been posting here every now and then, often answering questions and helping out when I can (often in relation to classic/academic drawing/painting and all that). I've been thinking of starting to make video tutorials/demos going over all kinds of subjects and I just wanted to know if there are any suggestions out there or something you haven't seen properly covered.

I was thinking of starting off with a basic approach to observational drawing that I don't think has been covered in any great depth online. I see a lot of artists struggling with it when I don't think it has to be as difficult as they make it. After that I thought I'd branch over into discussing the different principals involved with line drawing and mass drawing and how that relates to approach in both drawing and painting, as well as how I've experienced it being applied to drawing from one's imagination as opposed to working from life.

I've also thought about making "painting logs" where I basically talk about a painting that is halfway finished, how it got to that point, how I've worked with it, what problems are arising, how I'd solve them and so on. I know that when I started out, I'd kill for the chance to hear someone discuss what's going on halfway through a painting, so maybe some people would find that interesting.

Anyway, let me know if there's any topic in particular you could suggest to help me get started or if you're just generally interested.

Hey OP do you have a portfolio site? I've been meaning to ask you. Also, sounds like a great idea btw.

The painting logs sound interesting.

Are you also thinking of something like commented timelapses, like James Gurney does?

Yes and no. I have one but all the stuff on there is really outdated. I've been studying traditional art for the last year so I don't have a lot of fancy digital illustration/concept art work to show, and the digital stuff I have done has just been quick one day paintings that aren't to impressive (one reason to start making videos would be to encourage myself to make some decent digital paintings again)

I might. One reason I'd probably avoid doing the typical "Speed painting tutorials" is because everyone does it. I don't really feel a need to try and compete with a hundred other artists doing the exact same thing (unless I think I'd do a better job than most people doing it). I'll think about it, might be something I'd do for quick paintings or something but I've never really seen any of those videos that I felt I actually learned anything from, so it would just be for fun.

Truth be told I had an ulterior motive to asking that. I was mostly just hoping to be able to have your contact info handy for if I ever wanted to commission a painting (I'm into animation primarily, so my rendering won't likely soon be up to that sort of task unless I devote more time to it), or if I'm made aware of any other opportunities. You seem like a good dude and have been generous with your knowledge thus far, so if anything comes up for me in the future I'd definitely like for you to be among those I can first point to if a client ever asks if I "know a guy", if you know what I mean.

Also for the record this isn't me trying to cling on you or socialize with you outside of this board for the most part at all, I'm just putting my contact out there in case something happens for me or in case I need to hire a painter myself (i.e. with money). I'm not expecting anything in return

Email me if you'd like, or not, it's not a big deal whatever you decide. I'm not going to be butthurt if you don't want to maintain contact with anyone from this controversial website because it's absolutely understandable.

Heeeey, what's upp everyone. This is RedMansSkyDrawing and today we're gonna learn how to draw some simple manga anime from Japan. The steps are super easy, just follow me and you can effectively draw any japcartoon face from, at most, two-three angles with ease!

open up your copy of photoshop, uh I use uh, photoshop CS5 instead because I like the light theme and uh since my copy doesn't have certain features gugbulu i don't want to upgrade because my dad told me torrents are bad

*0ooooh ohhhh some-times, i gotta feeling, unce unce unceunce0*

saskuranachi viscethera-chan is obviously very busty so you have to draw from this angle it's long i know it's taking me 14 minutes but trust me, this method is amazing, you don't have to open up any art books or anything like that, just open up a japaense mango and you will see the tricks. or you can watch the flash animations too

uh so what i'm gonna do next is filter > render > clouds and this creates a really good texture for your drawing so you can hide that bad looking line but uh nobody really will care and okay just slap a big ass watermark this is a technique that you heard here first

*0Cinema4D slow-motion 60 FPS glass shattering outro credits resampled to 24 FPS to make sure your eyes fuck you over, faces from cropped hentai pics on video thumbnails, avicci levels bass boosted and slowed down by 25% because i think it' really cool0"
