Are there really any dos or don'ts of buying a laptop that will mainly be used for drawing and animating? (Maybe light gaming, but that's definitely not as important.) Any specific recommendations brand-wise?

I have $340. However, I feel like it's time to replace my Wacom Bamboo with an Intuos. I could always wait on this and get it later, though. Or I could just hold off on all of this altogether and save up for something better, if needed. Thing is, I'm going to be away from my PC for a few months with plenty of time to draw and no laptop to do it on is all.

I use Manga Studio 5, and will be getting Flash eventually.

Been eyeing up stuff like this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-flex-3-2-in-1-11-6-touch-screen-laptop-intel-celeron-4gb-memory-500gb-hard-drive-black/4456600.p?id=1219749485996&skuId=4456600

And this one especially. (It's on sale as of posting):

http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/Laptops/hp-pavilion-15z-laptop-m7d88av-1?jumpid=Laptops_Finder_PDP

Buying that last one would mean holding off on the Intuos (which I may or may not be able to get sometime during that trip??? It's iffy.) But like I said, I already have a tablet.

Thanks, artbros.

I don't know man; I'm an "enthusiast" and very seldom have had anything cheap enough to compare these to. I have a desktop replacement (i.e. gaming) laptop and it works great, without using one of these low-cost options firsthand I couldn't tell you.

Really as long as you have a decent screen (1080p is nice but not required I suppose) and OK performance it should be fine for most art as long as you're not using really fancy brushes or an insane resolution. The Lenovo looks adequate but I think you can get a much better value if you find one without a touch screen.

You could shop for a used Thinkpad x220t with that money.
