We're All Gonna Make It Bruh

Let's get a divine Nibru thread going, here's mine on the left. Here are the criteria:

Things that should remain constant through all interpretations:

- The Halo on top of his head, it should be a solid halo-shaped object above his head. The stripes don't have to be there though…

- His Mouth is stitched shut, his eye brows are composed of stitches and the marks on his right and left cheek (think of them as warpaint)

- He is old, has only his left eye and has long hair

- A Necklace that's the letter M

- He should be carrying a spear but the design of the spear can change

I'm confused. The thread is full of people talking about their submissions but I can't see any of them.

Nice, that's a pretty funny story. The dude basically won the lottery.

You just reminded how manley ruined the best place on the internet.

What happened?

It used to be populated with all kinds of pros and all kinds of people in the industry who were willing to help or even tutor you for free.

There was a bunch of stuff and I don't remember everything.

One of the things was implementing some kind of anti piracy measure, he used to unveil people, including famous, ones who shared tutorial videos.

He also had an art school that was totally mismanaged with him and other instructors not showing up, scamming people by not paying them for instructional videos or something and then banning everyone who complained on the forum.

There was a lot more to it, but the result was almost every oldfags leaving to other sites.

No other place came even close to what conceptart.org was and the place where most of them went is now dead too, with the site being replaced by a chemtrail site.

Holy shit.

What the fuck did I think when I made this post.

The punctuation is an abomination.

Thanks for the info

I've seen and done worse

That's just depressing.

So what's the current best site to get help, make connections, and talk with people like that?

Good question

 No.1766

Found this post after stumbling on an old 4chan /ic/ thread.

>MANY different things:

>Things related to TAD

>-allegations of false advertising due to roster changes

>-allegations of promotion using students who were already strong beforehand and taking credit for their growth

>-allegations of a damaged art pod and who should be responsible for fronting the costs

>Things related to MassiveBlack/Manley having fallouts with people he was supposedly good friends with

>-Manley leaving as president

>-Manley vs Marko

>-the same art pod issue mentioned before

>Things related to DVD downloads, site censorship and workshops

>-censoring out competitors [gnomon]

>-censoring out site complaints whenever new drama appears

>-guilting users into purchasing downloads to support the site for upcoming site improvements that took years to even >see through (leaving many to wonder where their money was going)

>-public shaming of people who allegedly torrented conceptart dvds

>-sudden workshop cancellation without sufficient notice to attendees (?)

>-disputes over use of workshop funds (allegedly throwing a high end, "profesional artists only" after party)

>-not following through to make sure artists who collaborated on dvds got their share of profits (many reported not getting >paid for the most recent year or two - this was the most recent drama)

>There's probably a lot more that I'm forgetting, or didn't witness. What I listed above is not in chronological order. Manley was a cofounder of conceptart while working as president of MassiveBlack. He then starts TAD, and eventually leaves massiveblack. He later leaves TAD to focus entirely on conceptart.org. Given his history, many feel that there's more to those than what's publicly known, and many have their doubts on Manley's character.

>Most of the drama seems to be between Manley and specific people, but the userbase of the site tends to have a lot of dramaqueens that feel their duty to get personally involved.

The next best thing I remember is http://crimsondaggers.com/

Looks a bit dead too now that I revisit it.

The last frontpage update is from 2012 but the forum still seems to be active.

I honestly think the imageboard format is ideal for beginning artists anyway. While decentralized blogs and even forums are perfect for self-promotion, this format allows people to separate their art from their ego.

 No.1769

>>1767

I agree, but I think there's a few benefits to the way things are handled on a regular board.

Sketchbooks are great for both the lurker and the poster, but they don't work with the ephemeral nature of chans.

It's very inspirational to be able to see the progress of an artist in the course of several years in it's most unadulterated way.

On the other hand it can be a good motivation to build something to be proud of. Not only of the skill you achieved but also of effort you put into it.

Not being anonymous can lead to drama, yes, but on the other hand people that are famous and need too give credence with their identity are treated more naturally, when they aren't the only tripfag in the room.

The thing is what made conceptart so great was that it was atypical for what it was.

It was one of the few places where people were honest and not afraid to say a painful truth, because it was place sought by those that cared about improving instead of their ego.
