Just started reading The Technological Society by Jacques Ellul. I have no clue what he means by the word "technique" could you guys help me understand what he means by this?

Haven't read him (yet), only read works that reference Ellul, but I imagine it's related to the notion of "management". There's no room for secrets and chance, everything has to be made transparent and integrated into the system in order to be better regulated. And "technique" is a certain way of doing that, of making things operational.
