Are they any good as central banks won't lend to them?

 No.83891

I have noticed a big drop in the quality of service since 2008 when all the new banking regulations happened. Those regulations overwhelmingly hurt community banks and smaller institutions.

At this point my credit union (from what I gather) doesn't allow the linking of paypal accounts, won't do international transfers, and their credit card department is outsourced to a really shitty company that doesn't even know what they're doing half the time.

It wasn't always like that, but every year they seem to get worse.

Credit Unions are great for day-to-day purchases and if you need to take a loan (especially house loans), but unfortunately they don't fulfill all the same functions as a bank as >>83891 mentioned.

AnCaps like fraternal societies too. Oh no! It's almost as if AnCaps are more interested in what's efficient and works instead of what makes them the most money!

yep.

obama was basically a stooge for the big banks. his cabinet was picked based on a list supplied to him by Michael Froman, an executive at Citigroup.

in the last 10 years the big/giant banks have metastasized compared with what we saw before the recession. almost all government intervention by the U.S. is simply to redistribute wealth into the hands of the ultra rich. obamacare functioned the same way by lining the pockets of the insurance companies.

Eh, someone will be along in a second to denounce them as "communism" and propose the 'libertarian' measure of unjustifiably killing millions of people to maintain total control.
