>they should. motherhood is one of the most important tasks in society, stop belittling it.
The problem with the attitude in the OP is that it's easily perverted, like all such conservative attitudes towards marriage. They turn "motherhood is an important task" into "women shouldn't work", when it's possible to be a mother and still work. I know it, because my mother worked fulltime and still sang us songs and told us stories, and generally did everything mothers are supposed to do. The problem with shitty mothers is not that they put work over their family, it's that they don't value family at all. One of my sisters friends works at a kindergarten and she says that the best parents, by far, are the working poor. They come as soon as work is over and bring their kids home, they ask questions on how the kid is, talk to it and so on. The shittiest parents are the unemployed. They come when it suits them, their kids are filthy, unwashed, have bad manners, and when the kid is hurt or ill, they basically ask if it can wait until tomorrow. They're also entitled motherfuckers, disrespectful and generally shitty people.
My point being, many conservatives are mistaken there. That women work is not really a problem, the primary problem is that they don't value motherhood enough. At least as far as family values are concerned. I'm pissed at all the highly trained judges and officials who work half-time one third of the year and spend the other two thirds on paid leave, but no one would hire them anyway if their choice to remain in a job wasn't subsidized and enforced.
