It just goes to show that the "War of Ideas" is more of a "Market of Ideas" and just like in any market, the one's who do the best job get the biggest market shares. However, unlike in any market, the Market of Ideas is predicated not on supplying sound and rational ideas, but supplying emotional needs. Just look at history, and you will see that the side that always wins are the demagogues, not the logicians. Emotions trump logic. Pathos beats logos, every time. Moral values and beliefs are innate to every person, no matter how much reasoning you do, you can't change most people's minds. Even a plurality of us voluntaryists only got to where we are because we our emotional needs weren't supplied by politics, unlike the left and right. I doubt if you felt so strongly about your political beliefs and dedicated so much time, effort and money into said beliefs, you wouldn't want to change your mind, You wouldn't want to feel that everything you did, especially if you did it for years, was for nothing.
It seems like basing the movement on winning the "War of Ideas" has done more harm to libertarianism than the efforts of any political faction ever has. Libertarians spend too much time on "getting the message out" and sounding rational when only a tiny percentage of us care about facts. Is it any wonder why ThatGuyT, Chris Cuckwell, Stefan Molyneux and Dapperton drank the nationalist kool-aid, especially when some of those guys were formally voluntaryist heavy weights? Their emotional needs weren't provided by voluntaryism, so they defected to the side that would. And now libertarianism's associated with race realism and other statist bullshit.
