Don't have a dog. The theory goes something like this. You can easily erase your mistakes with digital art. You draw a line incorrectly, and you can easily remove it without it ever existing. Because of this you can't actually see what you might be doing wrong, and maybe not even improve because of it. Therefore it's good to use something more permanent on paper. Not even pencil. Something like a pen. That way you can see you're mistakes, get use to not using your wrist all the time, and among other things.
