I find this man's statements to be very logical; especially if the society is a violent or corrupt one. Death penalty is a good deterrent

Yes, America is truly a land of peace and safety for all.
It's understandable that you want people to suffer and die, but you can't pretend it's actually an effective policy.

The death penalty isn't an effective deterrent. Most people who commit crimes either don't consider the consequences of their actions or just think that they won't get caught.
The death penalty is only a punitive measure, meaning it's more about fulfilling our own need for revenge than actually benefiting society. In most cases, rehabilitation is a much more humane option. I would hypothetically support the death penalty in cases where the criminal was beyond rehabilitation, but that still doesn't sit right with me, because it's impossible to know that for sure.

If it's impossible to know If someone can't be rehabilitated how can you possibly know with certainty if someone is actually capable of being rehabilitated or know if it actually worked after the process.
I'm not in favor of the death penalty either. Though I think rehabilitation is a pipedream. The government should just stop enforcing laws all together. I mean people are going to commit crime anyway. Even rehabilitation is punative as it would require a government to kidnap the individual and steal their precious/limited time.

If you rehabilitate a criminal and he ends up being a productive member of society, he'll only end up producing children with the same faults:
>don't consider the consequences
>think that they won't get caught
You merely begin the cycle anew. Especially if your rehabilitation is successful that the criminal "seemed like such a normal guy" and "wow who would have expected this" as is the tired refrain you hear when reading about particularly gruesome crimes these days.
Death, or at least sterilization is what is necessary for us all to benefit. Death being preferable because keeping a person alive costs everyone money, and releasing him comes with a risk of recidivism, no matter how small.
Haven't posted in this thread before, by the way.

I'm not an amrifat anon so i don't know what America has to do with the death penalty.
I've seen the benefits of having the death penalty enforced as well as the detriments of having criminals spared due to "humanitarian reasons ". In the case of enforcing the death penalty, crime dropped significantly whereas when we stop hanging scum, the crime rate soared. Criminals actually do consider the consequences of their actions. If the consequence is free food and board if caught, they have nothing to fear. Not hanging them is essentially telling them "continue on robbing the innocent ".
>>32727
It's difficult to properly measure the impact or effectiveness of something like the death penalty properly. There are a myriad of other considerations such as culture, unemployment rates, demographics, economic factors, social factors etc. Any studies comparing different countries or states or comparing crime before and after the change in law will often not take these other factors into consideration.
Based on my observations, the death penalty appears to be effective. My opinions are based on observing my home country, Trinidad

Wait, how do you observe crime rates in your country? Are you a data scientist?
I'm not sure about death penalty, but I'm absolutely sure most people who commit extreme crimes don't give a fuck about the consequences. They've been in psychological or physical pain for too long, or became too detached to care. Some have disorder that make them unable to control their impulses since birth.
IMO do whatever is cheaper: prison or death penalty
Move saved money to fund studies in behavioral biology, to study mind of the criminals
I'm all in technocracy. Technocracy will either doom us or save us. 50/50 chance. Perhaps I have mind of criminal because I'm willing to take the risk

Obviously it's difficult for person who worries about dying to fathom someone not caring about it.
Fear of death comes with existential depression, but on the other hand, not fearing death comes with general apathy and detachment. The cost of being able to look at the big picture (and thus not fearing death) is loss of passion. Passion is typical for more engaged people. In fact, even fear of death itself can be a motivating factor. Whereas detached person who doesn't care about death will sleep their life away because it doesn't matter for them

>what crimes i think are worthy of death penalty
Rape and murder. real rape; i.e. men with weapons restrain and gang rape a poor woman. Not the " i said yes but I was drunk so you are a rapist " type of rape.
Violent robbery resulting in grievous injury or near death of the victim (s)
Theft or corruption resulting in the loss or pilfering of large sums of money (>1 million usd $)
Illegal gun trafficking/importation
Importation or exportation of narcotics. Selling and distribution of illegal narcotics locally. The death penalty would be enacted upon only on those moving large quantities. The death penalty therefore shouldn't be applied to a small time weed man or pusher
Child prostitution/trafficking
>>32736
My means of observation is simply tracking the number of murders per year. It went down when the brown government was in power because they actually hanged drug lords. With time slick lawyers kept appealing the death penalty on the grounds of it being inhumane. Crime rate went back up and surpassed the old highs. Crime always goes back up when the black party is back in power. . And that party seems to have no motivation to see that the courts enforce the death penalty. Go figure.
I'm posting from a cell phone but the lowest murder statistic comes from when hangings were enforced. See the two links. Also no, I'm not a data scientists.

This holds very much true for cozy first world countries but in the third, money wasted to rehabilitate is a grave insult to all who struggle to survive without ever having done much wrong.

I fell for the bait but this needs to be said. The CCCP did not make a free state of equalized men but a tyrannical police state with failed economics, it was shittier than life under Nicholas II.
