Let's discuss the idea of reloading ammo, and if anyone has sources, books and/or video tutorials on the ways it can be done.

Bonus points if it is about shotgun slugs and/or hunting.

just about every caliber can be reloaded, from straight factory level reloads to 308 shooting 500 nitro level charges, plenty of guides out there however its not for newbies into shooting or people who want free shooting costs.

Anything in particular you'd want to load? Shotgun loading can be affordable depending on what you want to do, The brass shells for shotguns are great for hunting loads.

I was trying to find a way to achieve:

1) Cheaper slugs. Where i live the low cost shots are at 1eur per slug. At the same time empty slugs are at a small fraction of that (~0.1eur). So, apocalypse coming, it would be cost effective to be able to do.

2) Which also brings us to after shtf, being able to reload used or empty shells would be more than useful and something sought after.

Your best bet would be having a reloading plan in the long term and going full backyard smelting (if possible) and stocking up on lead ingots to create your own projectiles/pellets. For something like European pricing that might be the best way forward. You can also buy starter smelting kits right off the internet and play with those, but smelting/founding is dangerous and hazardous work and i would recommend getting some help from people in the field before starting your own. I got enough burn scars on my hands back when i used to work with foundry equipment!

Brass can also be bought in huge bulk as thankfully boomers are sticking to sanitary items instead of firearm equipment, so bags by the kilo of brass and crates of plastic shotgun cases can be affordable, but i dont know of any euro stores that would do that, plus international shipping could cause issues.

Again, you can buy casting shells of any projectile if you wish to smelt your own or buy projectiles from manufacturers, but with smelting your own you have to make sure the shell for the slug your making actually works properly and keeps the projectile safe and secure once its done. Do you Greeks have any issues with getting reloading equipment? Here in Australia were the dumping ground for loads of reloading equipment that isn't 223 or 308 because people don't want them so we buy them.

>Do you Greeks have any issues with getting reloading equipment?

Our guns/explosives/hazardous laws stupidly follow the "logic" of "it's illegal unless specifically mentioned". So yeah, everything other than (primitive) hunting weapons and their ammo is prohibited.

Concerning ammo, like i said, all i need to do is find a way to actual easily reload the empty shell. I have most of the materials needed. I can find pellets, even "boar size" ones, along with all the ingredients like the blasting powder. I need a trusty guide to put them together, preferably as easily and quickly as possible.

5 ounces sugar

12 ounces salt (or stump remover, or the crystals in water-nitrate cold packs, any kind of nitrate)

1 teaspoon rust, finely ground

1 teaspoon aluminum powder, again as fine as you can get it.

Dissolve sugar and salt in enough water so the mixture becomes transparent and there are no grains. Pour into a saucepan, turn up the heat until the water comes to a rolling boil and begins to steam off. Do not permit the water to boil violently, it can burn and ruin the mixture. It won't explode but the sugar portion will stick to the pan and it will be a real mess.

As the water boils it will reduce the mixture, as in the level in the pan will halve. Reduce the heat. Then it will begin to pop, at this time use a wooden spatula to mix it, and prevent the popping as much as possible. Add in the rust powder.

Some minutes later it will turn into a smooth creamy mixture, should be a sienna color. Reduce the heat again so it doesn't stick to the pan. Mix the aluminum powder in, make sure to mix very well because the mixture will harden soon. Turn off the heat. Pour into whatever mold you want it to look like.

Congrats it's propellant.
