PROPAGANDA
Prisoner of war states that everyone in his unit, including the Oberleutnant read American leaflets. Most men believed them believed them because men returning from furlough substantiated the truth of some of the items contained therein. Moreover, they were the only source of news they had. They swapped them with each other and the Oberleutnant was angry if he missed one. Prisoner of war states that one of the best things about the leaflets is the regularity with which they arrive.
It is particularly interesting the affect that allied bombing had on morale and the range of attitudes that the soldiers prescribed to.
