ps.
Heres a good tip on how to make firing pins easily
Use a dremel like a lathe
Thats it; it goes retard speed if you want it too, its small, its cheap, and if you want to just shit out some pins without a care, you got what'll do it

Hypothetically I could make a cool gun that uses a mixture of hydrogen and oxygen as a propellant to fire a projectile at high velocity, Of course I haven't done that and will not do that because that would be illegal in Canada. :^)
Because I can't post an image of something I didn't make I will post an illustration of the concept. You could probably make this with steel plumbing fairly easily and generate hydrogen and oxygen with electricity and water. A Schrader valve would work to fill up the chamber and a BBQ lighter can be salvaged for it's electric ignition system. Oxyacetylene would probably also work but be careful if you try any of this stuff.

Of course you hypothetically could
As long as its hypothetically combustible & hypothetically in a container with a hypothetical ignition system & a hypothetical one way exit, you have a hypothetical cannon
Hypothetically look up the hypothetical potato cannons hypothetically made of metal, they are hypothetically very powerful & hypothetically actually safer
You can also hypothetically use propane & / or butane as your hypothetical fuel

I know that propane is explosive when mixed with oxygen but I don't think it would have the same power as hydrogen. I was doing some research and found that the US navy uses hydroxy mixture for some artillery so it's probably a better propellant.

Wonder how hard a HE shell is to make with gunpowder and a primer that gets punched on contact with the ground.

Fun fact, buying a block of aluminum that size is surprisingly expensive and when I looked it up it cost more then just buying a 80% repressive unless you were buying in industrial scale bulk.
The only cost effective way doing a 0% one is to hunt down scrap aluminum and cast a blank yourself. Cuts down the price to the point that can compete with just buying the almost complete lower.

Looking for the drop-in auto sear for the AR that was like, a block of aluminum that you didn't have to drill a 3rd pin hole for. It was like a concealed system.
Anybody know what I'm talking about? I might be imagining it.

A lightning link, though that isn't a block at all and iirc only work with some AR's.

Nah, it's not a lightning link or a quick-link. It's a 3 piece, a block of aluminum, a sear, and a pin connecting the two. Can't for the life of me find it in my files anymore. It's very square.

ive been interested in building my own very powerful air rifle at home for a long time but my rampant depression has prevented me from doing so much as properly repairing my furniture, let alone building a gun
>>662762
>Of course I haven't done that and will not do that because that would be illegal in Canada. :^)
no it wouldn't be
>Oxyacetylene would probably also work but be careful if you try any of this stuff.
also no, it burns hot but doesnt expand enough. most people who get into hardcore hobbyist potato cannons still swear by flammable aerosols or butane. they offer good expansion, are cheap, and are safe to handle.
ps
>hydrogen
also offers fairly poor expansion and energy density compared to more conventional fuels. hydrogen is used in some combustion engine based generators because… uh… reasons, i guess. but there's a reason gasoline and diesel are more popular
>hydroxy
literally pseudoscience quack shit for retards. hydrogen with enough oxygen to burn is already "hydroxy" but without the pseudoscience quack shit. there are optimizations to be made in your fuel-air mix but "hydroxy" in its usual definitions is different from hydrogen and oxygen happening to be the same place and is, again, pseudoscience quack shit for retards.
if anything, a more viable thing to what you want for a gun to use in some kind of insurgency situation would be a hybrid diesel-air gun. some people already do it for funsies with normal air rifles, but basically you put some Vaseline Or Something in the skirt of a pellet and the rapidly increasing pressure causes the Vaseline Or Something to literally diesel and burst into flame, slightly increasing the muzzle energy by introducing conventional gas expansion by burning something quick-burning. it can also happen with freshly but very sloppily oiled air guns.
it's generally ill-advised because most off the rack airguns aren't built to take much higher pressure than they already use so you can fuck up your seals and such, most fuels that cooperate nicely enough to use aren't very good (e.g. vaseline will stick in pellets but will not actually burn that quickly or result in a ton of expanding gas, liquid oils won't stay in place nicely and could get into the bore and impact accuracy, etc), and in general it's trivial to get larger energy gains out of a combination of a larger pellet with a larger piston or stiffer spring or higher pressure tank and regulator or whatever than out of using such a hybrid system and trying to float just under the speed of sound rather than trying to shatter it (and usually failing) by converting your air rifle to a shitty version of a firearm. but it's a lot of fun because it produces a loud report and a teensy bit of smoke like you have a real gun :)
