To go further indepth why ZIPRA and ZANLA were so terrible at fighting. I recall a podcast with a guy who did security in South Africa, it turns out alot of Africans thought that the sight leaf on AKs just made them more powerful and would start to charge and fire well outside of the 300 meters AKs are effective at. There was a story of some South African Chieftan during the pre-colonial periods who thought that aiming rifles was pure magic and didn't understand that there is training, technique and skill involved. If you watch videos of South Africa right now you'll see them take weird stances just firing AKs without any sort of understanding.
