Yes. Shit don't work. At all. It's unoptimized like shit, crashes often and loads forever. the amount of effort and autism put into the gun, character and vehicle customization, along with all of the armor shit is really commendable though it has fully simulated ricochets and had wind and coriolis, I believe, but they were taken out because they caused too many issues while not being that impactful

I've played a bit, was forced to lower textures to "medium" and it turns out there's no difference between "low" and "medium", all textures seem to be just pixelated as fuck once you get below "high"

Don't approach without at least modern budget gaming pc, once I'll upgrade GPU to a one that has more VRAM it should start working well, atm it eats up all my 16GBs of RAM

The game is early access and it's what you would expect of it, the basics are here - maps, guns, clothes and vehicles. The rest is for them to work on

It's really nothing to do with your PC, the game just doesn't work properly. It won't even use more than 50% of my CPU or GPU, and ram constantly sits at around 70%-80%, but the game runs like complete shit or outright refuses to load sometimes. And I'm using a 6 gig 1060 and have 8 gigs of ram.

Tiers 3-4 are absolute hell of uselessness and 0mm armor.

The tier 5 while terrible in every way has an okay gun and is somewhat playable at long range. Although being the longest part of the grind and being the worst tank in the game tier for tier you will hate it almost every game.

The tier 6 O-I is of course acceptable in all features. From then on it is simply more of the same, big tank, big armor, big derp.

Counter-Strike is fundamentally retarded. A big bolt action sniper rifle with a sniper scope is more effective as a close quarters assault weapon than a shotgun, SMG or assault rifle (and of course it's also the most effective at longer ranges). You can completely get the drop on someone and start unloading your gun into them (accurately), only for them to still somehow win. Bodyshots don't do nearly enough damage, and your aim isn't even thrown off when you take hits, so headshots are almost mandatory. HE grenades rarely kill or seriously damage anyone, just as you'd expect from grenades. The knife is slow and it's very hard to get close enough to anyone, yet it still requires two stabs to kill, which just guarantees that you'll die first. The game is so laggy even with today's very low pings that it's completely routine to see in the killcam that the shots you landed on your killer never even existed.

CS was fun a long time ago but now these mechanics are just grating.

And after another session, I have to say the apparent hit detection problems are extremely severe. The game is either not detecting hits correctly, most of the bullets are disappearing for reasons unknown, or the lag is so bad that what you see on the screen only loosely correlates to what the game thinks is happening, and you're dead long before you even know it. There are so many situations where the enemy should have already died two times over, yet somehow he still manages to beat me. Shotguns are particularly wildly inconsistent, and will at times oneshot people (bodyshots) and at other times will requires two or even three shots.

This game's about twenty years old and has been running on fundamentally the same engine, and this is where we are.

I started playing the original DOS C&C yesterday. It's fun when a game chugs at 30 dudes on the map.

It wasn't an E sport designed game. It was something rather unique in the time when everything else was Team fortress or Quake. It took off as a multiplayer tacticool mod which had a decent sized fanbase. It was one of maybe 5 games from Half life 1's online mods that got a decent userbase and the first to really get a big one.

The E sports shit comes more from clan matches. Back when the internet wasn't retarded people would group up in clans to play together. Some of them wanted to do competitive things, some of them recorded the matches for you to download (on dial up) and they got popular. There was no commentary, no e celeb shit, just people making montage videos of cool plays and uploading their matches. Leagues developed around this and the player base just considered it a way to avoid scrubs in public servers. Some events would happen at large LAN parties and would be their own in house events. A few of the players then ended up with sponsorships and that's where it all went to shit.

If you don't understand CS's place in gaming you're a newfag who should do some research. It's a good example of how a good game at the time can be dragged out for 20 years to make Jews rich.

MGS V did a lot of things wrong. Story was meh, all the boss fights were awful, stealth was quite barebones and camo did nothing, the AI just had a flat 25m detection range when you were prone and Kojimbo kinda lied about some stuff like AI starting to wear helmets after headshots and react to you when in reality they just did it anyway no matter your input.

But… at the same time it's the only game that allows you to mortar strike with an automatic grenade launcher's rangefinder sight and shoot soviets on horseback with a .44 while listening to 80's tunes.

Despite what >>624935 said, RA1 is quite playable with the latest fanpatches and is pretty much TibDawn+, but otherwise he's on point with most of everything.

Tiberium Wars uses the same engine as Generals. But, unlike Generals, plays mostly like the originals in terms of basebuilding with the exception that infantry is bought in full squads instead of individual men.

RA2 is certainly fun to play and has that sorta 80-90's feel to it despite the artstyle. Big problem would be that it's somewhat microintensive for allies due to their infantry mechanics mostly and has certain over-the-top units later in the campaing.

They literally walk with right in the enemy's face before attacking due to this bug. It's especially noticeable in subs.

Spamming them is still way more effective for anti-air than a SAM site (of which you need at least two to take anything down at all). Also, spam enough of them and you can even face tanks to a certain extent. Mammoths get squashed by rocket infantry spam too.

Also, RA still has the bridge problems from C&C 95, except now they extend over long stretches of water, splitting landmasses and making it even more of a tedium to even transport units over water.

The Mammoth Tank sucks ass and you shouldn't build them at all, the heavy tanks can easily run over infantry if you have enough of them. The AI doesn't use the X to scatter, and if you never noticed the AI doesn't attack your units while they're in transit to a target unless you attack first, allowing you to run over the AI infantry while they are moving.

Because you shouldn't need to use that much air as Soviets. You can have a few MiGs and blow up the AI Power Plants, Ore Trucks, or Construction Yards to cripple it. The AI isn't that smart. Especially if you attack their Ore Trucks. They send their entire fucking army after you and can be crippled in one battle. And they don't know how to defend against air units attacking OTs.

The Badger isn't available to the Allies in all missions and it has cardboard armor and can easily be shot down.

The myriad of island maps split up by waterways and flimsy bridges that are guarded by ships say otherwise. Building subs to clear the way for landing craft is also a pain in the ass of an attrition game against allied ships.

MiGs are a long way off into mid-late game. The AI doesn't wait around. It's not that it's smart, it just gets more credits per ore truck and spams units in waves to wear down defenses, thus slowing down ore credit flow, and consequently slowing the counterattack down.

Because the game engine can't handle units attacking and moving at the same time.

AH is the only one on PC until 7 releases. And 7 is gonna be 60 gigs of uncompressed bullshit and denuvo. Not to mention there will be absolutely no playable F4E or whatever other bullshit day one DLC they reserved for only consoles in the PAL region. Almost guaranteed to run like garbage, but you can keep your hopes up. I personally have more faith in project wingman though.

As for the second question, the HE fuses on the shells are contact fuses. No ECM would be able to trigger it or prevent it from going off. The kinetic penetrator shells have no fuses because the fuckoff heat and razor sharp fragments of armor and depleted uranium generated from the shells punching through whatever they hit is enough to start fires and reduce the crew to a steaming meat pile.

I also forgot to mention that AC:AH had enemy "aces" that were invulnerable unless you engaged in cinematic cut-scene fight mode. And while it looks like 7 isn't going to do the shit that AH did, its still not looking like its going to have many advantages over wingman due to the expected issues Japanese games ported to PC always have.

Making it detonate ahead of time doesn't eliminate destructive power, as (after all) that's the point of fused munitions. FC2 stands above the rest for the sole fact that it isn't just another generic "you're the chosen average dude turned supersoldier" shooter. It actually touches upon things like mercenaries (who see ten times more combat, see ten times the atrocities and do ten times the dirty jobs national militaries do), weapons dealers (and how they see war in general), and how easy you can die in combat in a setting like Africa. On the theming aspect, it speaks volumes of truth without making a cinematic drama moviegame out of it.

You have to manage your health kits (by pulling bullets and shrapnel out of your body), ammo, weapon degradation (replacing when needed), dealing with long distances (which is frankly part of the package), Malaria, and so many other things. You have to supply your own equipment, keep yourself alive, hunt for diamonds, execute the wounded and so on. It doesn't hold your hand, and in fact disregards you to the point that you can get your ass killed even in the supposed "ceasefire zone" that's actually the only actual border between the two factions, a street walk away from each other.

While it does have its negative points like kevlarniggers and respawning checkpoints, there's already a mod that fixes that anyway. It's basically STALKER Lite: Africa Edition, except with less friendly NPCs.

Try playing with Arma 2 units in Take On Helicopters, the South Asia map is pretty neat and about 100 kilometers across. The low detail terrain and sheer expanse of it reminds me of the old Delta Force games, and the 20 kilometer view distance is great.

I thought it fell into place nicely.

How the health system works is that you do damage on a specific limb, however once that limb is blacked out, all that damage that would've otherwise gone to the leg gets transferred to the entire body, making kneecapping with the shotgun a viable option.

I should have said armor penetrating 5.45 in retrospect. You can pick up gear off of other players but because of the flea market system people have been completely buying out the traders ammo supplies and listing the ammo for 10x the amount on the flea market and to the devs this is somehow a "accurate free market model". Yeah an artificially limited supply that only boters and autoclickers can exploit, accurate.

I played the shit out of the game and leveled quickly after the 10.5 wipe and realized too late that I wouldn't be able to use any of the high level gear i unlocked from the traders because I wasn't willing to pay 10 USD a round

Yeah, in tarkov caliber matters less than the penetration value. There is a guy on youtube that does super indepth armor videos. Like I said I actually really enjoyed having to aim with weapons and armor actually mattering. If you can't get good AP ammo just use HP and aim for the legs. 7.62PS will penetrate any helmet level 3 or below and the only helmets level 4 and above are atleast 150k rubles or more. I actually think the mosin really broke the game and being able to 1 shot a player that brought 400k worth of gear at level 1 makes the game no fun.

Watch videos from a guy called "pestily" he got to level 40 on day 1 of the wipe. I haven't played played tarkov in a few weeks but check the fleamarket for high priced low slot usage quest items like Gas-ANs, Gphones, graphics cards, T-plugs, circuit boards and wilston cigs ect. I was level 26 by day 3 because I played way too much in the early wipe and that's how I made most of my money. Farming scavs is less about making money and more about getting decent weapons for free that you can invest a little money on to make pretty good.

Realistically 6b43 is rated to stop 7.62x54r* out of an SVD so you are retarded in the end anyways. I have no problem with the mosin being in that game but I do think that some of the better AP ammo (which you can get at level 1) should be locked behind a quest or a higher level requirement. The worst mosin round you can get still has higher penetration than every other ammo at level 1 traders anyways and is still really fucking good. Meanwhile .308M61 is locked behind a huge quest line (not to mention a big pricetag) with some of the hardest/most boring quest in the game. It just makes high level ammo/gear obsolete and I personally don't like a game that doesn't reward progression.

idk a lot of people have problems but I only have a 1060 and I5 8400 and I always have a pretty good frame rate. The biggest problems I was running into was huge memory leaks that have been since completely fixed. 10.5 feels extremely smooth and I had been getting record framerates.

It's actually the other way around with the helmet hitbox not coming fully down the neck and jaw but ok. I have literally never heard anyone complain that the armor hitboxes are too big, is this just something you made up?

Like what for example? It's so hard to talk about the issues with tarkov because they are either changing every day or are currently being worked on.

I ended last wipe at I think level 46 after a few months so yes a lot of autism

One of the greatest things about tarkov (imo) is that the more experienced you become in tarkov the better you will do. Once you get to the point where losing that gear doesn't really mean anything to you, you will stop valuing loot and start valuing pvp. It really takes practice and time to have fun in tarkov

Yeah, I think I've tried every gun in the game at this point,except the MP7 but the M1A is actually the civilian version of the m14 (winky face).

Absolutely, any of the guns that are 7.62NATO are pretty good and fun to use. My favorite thing about the M1A is that it is (relatively) cheap for the amount of firepower you get. Even the worst 7.62NATO round still has 50 pen and it's available at peacekeeper level 2 for half the price of comparable rounds like m995. It makes it one of the best early game options for big boy killer runs. Unfortunately, the M1A does not spawn naturally anywhere in tarkov but what I used to do is farm KIBA for RSASS's and then sell the RSASS because you can buy 2 M1As for what you get from 1 RSASS. They are both comparable guns but I personally liked the M1A more because you can use 50 round mags with it.

Unionniggers weren't dying fast enough to gunfire, despite being surrounded from three sides so I did what any reasonable man would and ordered everyone to charge, while ordering second half of the army to get into positions that the troops engaged in melee had occupied. The only regret I had was that I accidentally ordered one of my veteran brigades into that melee. Oh yes, I am utilizing artillery, and now after the battle of cedar mountain it has become abundantly clear that I need even more artillery, as it is clearly the most cost efficient method for reducing enemy numbers, in combination of sniper battalion. It's quite cost inefficient to use line infantry in offensive tasks. Better just let artillery and sharpshooters grind enemy into dust and then use infantry to mop up enemy resistance, hop forward to new defensive positions, bring artillery as close as possible, let artillery do it's job and use snipers to take out whatever high value targets they can reach.

No, you still get access to food, water and shelter if you live there, it's just not for free. There's also westside with its own militia and food/water production.

You have water supplied with the pump and the only debatable thing about it is bullying NCR citizens by doubling the price on it. Food is also quite plentiful, from dishes in the hotel and NCR farms nearby to rodents eatable for the poorest(which are also food that is quite rare in that it won't try to eat you in turn and can be hunted by children). They also have income sources for that, be it gun runners, crimson caravan or that bar or local stores. I also didn't mention medical care and help provided by the Followers, that's even freely provided.

Literally every house outside of Strip is a bombed house, these are a bit more damaged but they are still in similar condition to many stone houses outside. Wooden ones are also in better shape only because they have been fixed more.

No, I generally tend to keep unit size somewhere around that size. There's not enough good quality rifles to go around, and it's quite a bit more flexible to go with many smaller units than a few big ones. One can utilize terrain better, and thus create better killzones, and more importantly, deny enemy terrain features, like cover, river crossings, etc.

Too bad about the escape from tarkov. I would have wanted it to be good, but alas, it's just yet another multiplayer only game with borderline incompetent developers that can't take criticism worth shit.

Battle of Frederickburg, and the mystery of teleporting union-niggers. You know how it keeps shifting the battlespace you are supposed to control for some arbitrary reason? I think I just lost my center because of it. You see, the battle for flanks was going spectacularly well, to the point that I had something like 1500 men in Fredericksburg, and other 900 men going in to make sure those wouldn't be outflanked or surprised. I took them from center and right flank, because the attack that was supposed to come to center in the previous phase never really materialized in any reasonable fashion as units in the right flank had murdered them to a reasonable degree apparently. And I thought that since there was nothing coming to the middle, I could pull them back out from fredericksburg should the need arise.

So, now the game decides to limit the battlespace again, this time allowing me only to control units that I had in middle and in the right. Commander from the middle was in Fredericksburg, with a troop of 900 men and my battalion of snipers. The other 900 men that was going to support those guys? Well, they're now having to deal with glowing Union-Niggers that are teleporting amids them and around them.

Infantry is throughoutly hopeless against vehicles, until atgm's get involved, and, even then, you have to micromanage them in order to resupply them with new missiles if those atgm-teams are inside buildings or trenches.

Don't get too attached to infantry. Abuse sniper teams equipped with 12.7mm anti-material rifles, as they can get shit done against infantry inside buildings in a cost efficient manner. As with everything in that game, it partially boils down to dumb luck wethever or not your tanks or atgm's get a good hit on enemy vehicle, as the terrain feature representation is bit lacking, sometimes, that fucking atgm hit's a tiny terrain feature when trying to hit a moving target. Generally, getting atgm units to highest possible elevation helps greatly with this issue.

The best way I can sum it up, problems included, is that it's Insurgency but the devs tried to copy-paste it into UE4.

For the most part it runs like shit, the gunplay does not flow as intended(a lot of shootouts are won incidentally rather than through skill), and fire support was a pretty dumb ideathe insurgent drones are fucking hilarious though since half the time the pathfinding doesn't work.

Also the Security forces are half-assed YPG wearing US camo. I think there's one white guy selection in customization, the rest are arabs, even the women.

some gunfights in the game are won incidentally, not through skill anymore. that's why I loved the high skill cap gameplay of the previous game.

this game feels casualized as fuck but I really do wish it gets better.

The original half life 2 mod was US marines vs Iraqi insurgents. The first standalone was private security forces vs ISIS in Iraq and shitstorm is kurds vs ISIS.

Now I only ever played the first standalone, but it was not a very good game. All AR platform rifles kicked like an M14 on full auto even when firing semi while guns that should not be easy to control on full auto like the FAL and AK74u behaved like they were shooting .22lr recoil wise. It did the stupid annoying thing Ro2 (another trainwreck of a game that people thought was good) did where moving the mouse around moved your gun before turning yourself, and shooting from the hip like this is so inaccurate you can empty a sub machine gun mag into a guy across a mud hut room from you and not score a single hit even when using a laser sight. Reloading is also as hasty as a lazy Saturday on the range. And these are just gunplay issues.

Anyone who played the tutorial can see why shitstorm's single player campaign didn't work out. Because it runs into script errors and crashes in a new and exciting way every time you attempt to complete it. The AI is also very broken. They cannot aim down sights and are completely blind to anyone not directly in front of them. If you are in front of them, they will automatically shoot you in the head after about three seconds of staring at you no matter the range making armor completely pointless and the more open maps nearly unplayable in PvE co-op play.

Then there's the movement system. They also picked up on Ro2 and arma's philosophy of "the slower, more molasses feeling and clunky it is the more REAL it is!" while also adding in a fucking retarded "slide" move which you can do by crouching and sprinting at the same time. This animation looks about as smooth as the slide animation from sonic 06 and shoots you silently across a room a sonic speeds. It looks retarded and screams trying to have your cake and eat it by trying to have your slow methodical movement system where you waddle around like you shit yourself while also trying to pretend you can call of duty dolphin dive everywhere at the same time.

And to top it all off I need a separate paragraph just to rant on how poorly explosive weapons are handled in this game. Grenades, RPGs and IEDs kill everyone always. Sandbags and chest high walls do not stop them. Trenches do not stop them, buildings do not stop them, and going prone does nothing to increase your chances of survival even if the characters yell "GET DOWN!" The RPG with rocket for vehicle and not people will kill you every time and nothing can be done about it. Also while the AI does not throw grenades because they are too fucking retarded to be programmed for it, they are still a guaranteed kill because you do everything so painfully slow in that game for added realism.

and as the other streloks have already pointed out, the devs are massive cucks who will ban you for making fun of muslims and have gone out of their way to say how guns are evil

call it "The Troubles" and make it a class based shooter with perma death between rounds where the objective is to either kill the enemy team or complete the objective a la neo tokyo. First team to win a certain number of rounds wins, as you get kills and complete the obj you unlock higher tier weapons. IRA gets slower firing weapons to start with but get explosives and eventually higher end gear, north ire/brits get decent shit to start with but it doesn't scale very well over time. This encourages the brits to rush and in turn encourages IRA to get sneaky playing to their strong suits. Maps should be be a good size with plenty of access points and places to ambush, encourage group play and communication.

Rather than doing big ass maps where you have to walk for 10 minutes before getting killed, just do detailed maps focusing on a smaller area. Rather than doing a whole town, do sections of a town where all the doors are open and lead somewhere.

You could have a line in the map, and any time the enemy crosses the line and stay behind it, they gain points and or you lose points. As time goes by you try and attack on both sides of the line, so you gain points and they lose points. Each team has a recourse pool and different play styles. IRA can blend into crowded areas, British have lots of firepower. The more overt actions can effect the war effort and effect your resource pool. The more British troops die, the less they will have. The more IRA killed the more they gain when it's on their side of the line.

Kinda, but a little more detailed and on a round-by-round basis. It'd be like the front page of a newspaper, with the headliner being the map and its objective, e.g. "Bombing (attempt) in Bishopsgate", with images of the MVPs like the most vicious IRA terrorist/most heroic British trooper with the highest kill to death ratio, most wanted fugitive/winner of the Victoria Cross (most objectives completed), so on and so forth. It'd change in tone depending on how close of a victory or defeat; the republican newspaper screen would be aplomb with praise and whatnot if the operation was done without casualties on the IRA side, a high kill ratio, etc. vs being dejected or complaining about the vile brutality of the British troops if it was a full wipe of the squad.

This is definitely a case of focusing way too much on the polish before the painting but I think it'd be really cool.

If you were really ambitious you could try making an actual insurgency/guerrilla warfare game, the closest I remember was Liberal Crime Squad. Training guerrillas, converting the population, gathering weapons, hiding from the police etc.

My issues with it are the following

<UI inferior to Fallout 1/2

<sneak is a passive skill rather than active

<Dogs are the most tedious enemies

<Movement is square based instead of hexes or free movement (this can fuck you over because when

<perk system is number crunching that forces you to commit to a path because of how the perk costs work.

<Critical effect and critical hit are separate roll meaning that you should only go for eye crits because you need critical effect for enemy to drop his gun or get a leg crippled, you will probably never blind anyone but at least you'll kill him in 1 hit.

Recently started playing this. Very good as concept, quite more militarily oriented and unpozzedly realistic compared to the communist quasi-apologist games of the same franchise (slaves, including hookers which all are femaleplus your female pirates use them for "beauty-aid" instead of for scissoringME TIMBERS! form the base of your rather sophisticated for its era economy and logistics) but it's quite lacking in content of combat planning and tactical diversity (you only have 6 different kind of ships and they all do the same thing, presumably, slightly differently, battles are almost completely random, happen off-screen and you can only effect them in advance by crew quantity and quality). It's not a military-strategy game per-se so I think the later part is forgivable, I just find the extra-military aspect of the economy that supports your "navy" and sustain the troops' moral very interesting compared to the usual RTS' "hurr durrr only one building and worker-type for lumber, farm, ore and oil/other and muh brainless suicidal drone troops" .

Anyone else here being a Medieval II autist? I tried ti install this mod called Potop Total War (changes the games setting to the mid. 17th century) and no matter how much accurately I followed the install manual it didn't want to start. I know about this other mod called Ogniem i Mieczem (same era) and while it worked, the entire game is in Russian so I cant understand a single word of it.

OVERVIEW

It is apparently going to be first released to backers of the game and such this summer so we'll have gameplay then, until then they have a honeypot server and regular streams to show off what they're doing.

God dammit. Even if it is good, it can be ruined down the line. If only it could have a single player campaign and modding. That's why I am more hopeful for Ready or Not more than any other shooter out there. If this is actually good, it's a shame it's going to be something with a shelf life since multiplayer games die so fast today, especially so if the tank simulator side is any good since good tank sim games are so few and far between and the only one being a dead multiplayer game will just be salt on wounds.

To my knowledge, Estonia still uses PASGT armour with the woodland pattern as seen in this picture, but I may be mistaking it for something else.
