why this altboard is arab themed?

You're implying Islam is "arab" culture. I also encounter some of you are trying to using arab words so hard, instead of English sentences even it exists.

Well because translating Arabic to English ain't exactly a one-to-one perfect translation, so some things stay Arabic. Or you could be baiting…I don't know.

Arabic is the liturgical language of Islam, just like Hebrew is the liturgical language of Judaism and Greek and/or Latin are the languages of Christianity.

>implying Hz. Abraham, Davud and Jesus are not part of Islam

There were prophets from various cultures that's the majority, you can't just say "arabic language is islam's" just because of Qur'an's language.

I'm not new here, everyone knows arabic words has various meanings. What I meant by there is literally unneccessarily arab word usage is like using "cannah" instead of heaven etc.

I'm just from Toruko, aka kebabland, aka Turkey which is also muslim. Compared to Toruko, this altboard is way arabisch.

>learn arab today

>names are in arabic

>arabic sentences in stickies

>Cannah, sunnah, oruch

Then you know that you can pick your own name and don't have to use the default. You know that not everyone here speaks Arabic or uses the Arabic word(s) for things. You also know that people may choose to use Arabic if they want.

But … you're not new here … right?

>There were prophets from various cultures that's the majority

Yes, and how unfortunate it is that they didn't live long enough to witness the birth of Muhammad and his sahabah. The Arabic language is given greater prominence in Islam because it was the language spoken by Allah when he created the Quran, it was the language spoken by the greatest of his prophets, and the family of the prophet and friends of the prophet, there is literally no reason whatsoever we should prefer the word "Heaven" over "Jannah", or "God" over "Allah", etc.

You're right in the sense that Islam is not arabic in its core, but universal in the way of how it adapts to any tradition.

For exemple, I don't understand why people joining islam use the arabic hijab. They should use the same hat their tradition use since ever. If a christian woman join islam, there is nothing wrong in her wearing the traditionnal christian veil (like the one of Myriam).

There are plenty of exemple of people joining islam, and keeping their tradition (just changing their old god with islam). It was the case of the zoroastrian, that kept their religious festival, just replacing their old gods with Allah (obviously adding the ramadan/Aid al kabir/fitr).

But you can't replace arabic, the language though. Arabic, like sanskrit or hebrew are sacred languages. So you have to know arabic and use arabic term when you quote the Quran. The equivalent in Christianity would be every priests only use aramean, latin not being at all the lauguage of Issa.

But you're right to point out that people are exagerating the weight of the arab culture, especially when you know that the arab ruled other the islam caliphate for very little time.

No.. thats not how it works lol.. eid is a act of worship, celebrating other non islamic festivals are remnants of jahiliyya

I said celebratin other festivals by replacing ancient god by Allah, therefore "islamise" these festivals. There is so much examples of this, I gave one.

There's no such thing as islamizing shirki traditions. Norwuz stays majoosi and is unislamic. Same for any other than the 2 eids, such as birthdays or national celebrations ect..

A christian convert cannot make easter or christmas islamic.

Well you haven't read Quran until you read it in original Arabic. Otherwise you just read commentaries on it, which are invalid.
