Hello everyone. If someone could help I would appreciate it. I was an atheist white teenager in the United States. I supported evil and thought myself to be really smart and would drink alcohol. But over time I became more right wing, then I realized that wasn’t enough. Then I became a Christian, but I am loving Islam more and more. It makes more sense, it is absolute. The law of it is enthralling, it is not obscure or vague. The thing is I am afraid to convert as I live in the Midwest and I don’t know where any mosques even are and if they will be accepting. I’m not doing this to find a wife either but I want one and would a Muslim woman even want a guy like me? Because if I’m gonna do this I’m going all in and would only want to marry a female Muslim… so I guess what I am asking is will people accept me?? And general reversion story thread. I am sorry if this thread is annoying somehow.

Its like im looking in a mirror. Yes, you might find some hardships being a muslim in Midwest US, but there is also alot of potential for you. You are the seed Allah (swt) chose to plant in this forsaken land so you can grow in your faith and bear many fruit for Him. I'd search for "mosques in your area" and one should pop up. I live in Northern IL not Chicago area and I thought I would never find a mosque, but I was wrong. Im certain there is a Mosque somewhere in your area. If not, maybe in the next town over. If still not, your house will be your Mosque.

I feel you on that, but don't get too caught up in finding a wife right away. Allah (swt) will put a wife in your path when you are ready. Also, your wife doesn't have to be a muslim. Techinally she can be a "Person of the Book" as well.

Ehh, some might have a problem, but they are still under the spells of the media and their fear mongering. Most people I have met don't care if you are a muslim they just care if you are ISIS-tier You shant fear them. The only being worthy of your fear is Allah (swt). Be the shinning example of Islam I know you want to be.

There are mosques everywhere. I believe Islamicity.com has a search for mosques by zip code.

I thinks he means will other Muslims accept him. The answer is yes, there are many prominent white converts to Islam from the US like Suhaib Webb and Hamza Yusuf. I'm a convert, and I've only been a Muslim for a few months, yet I've already made very close friends that I feel like I've known all my life.

Finding a wife won't be hard either, OP. I know plenty of married converts. If anything it's one of the easiest parts of being a Muslim. There are loads of single Muslim women who have no interest in dating and fooling around, are looking for a guy to marry. I'm unmarried myself, but that's because I'm not looking for a wife at the moment, I'm trying to get my life in order.

As for finding a mosque…have you tried google? That's how I found the mosques in my area. They all came up on google maps. This will sound like a joke, but if there are any 7/11 type places in your area a lot of the people that work there are Muslims, and they sometimes place 7/11's in areas with little to no Muslims, so reach out to the people who work there because they will be happy to meet someone who is interested in Islam or a fellow Muslim in an isolated region.

Also keep in mind the demographics of this site. I’ve seen quite a few people post here with similar backgrounds to his (including me) and even on reddit. Whatever preconceived grievances you have against him will get sorted out for everybodies best as he (and others) accept Islam. There are so many paths to embracing Islam. Some people were liberal hip hop heads, some are former trump voters, etc.. people who try to take advantage of the religion never actually make it past reading a Wikipedia overview of it
