One of my faults is a deep attachment to k-pop. I never thought it could be haram until one of my friends said "What if the sahaba saw you listening to this stuff?" and made me think….
What do you guys think of

or

I don't even see it in a sexual or lewd way, to me its just cute, catchy and impressive, I like the dancing and art of it.

Alright, ill take the bullet and attempt to watch these videos.
>1st link
Korean women not wearing hijabs singing some song in a language I cant understand, while they are in a store looking at clothes. Never mentioning Allah (swt) and song is most likely about: shopping and/or boys
>2nd link
Couldn't make it past the play button as korean woman in thumbnail is exposing her belly and probably singing about the same stuff as the first link.
My verdict:
HARAM
Dont waste your time viewing these videos as no good will come of it.

There is no "to me" in Islam. If something is halal, it is because Allah declared it so. If something is haram, it is because Allah declared it so. Your personal opinion is meaningless.

I agree. But we can't ask Allah which videos are haram and which aren't we have to use our own judgments. No? Some are obvious, some aren't.

If there are women prancing around uncovered, then the video is haram. (24:31) As for the music itself, well, I have no idea what they're singing about. It is best to err on the side of caution.

Convince us of what, exactly? Are you trying to say that k-pop is acceptable when you already admitted it to be "one of your faults"?

If you think it's bad for you, give yourself a challenge and try avoiding it for the rest of Ramadan. Once you've got a clear mind, try listening to it again to see if you still like it. Worst that can happen is that you've at least used Ramadan as a chance to improve.

You can say it's your opinion, or that you deny hadith about it. Because all 4 imams of fiqh say it is.

No, they disagree on what 'music' means. Some allow instruments, others say voice and drum only, some say none.
If they can't make up their minds, then I can rightly ignore them as weak hadith.

(btw modern music would still be haram even with those conditions)

There can be no difference of opinion. It is either haraam or it isn't. If the scholars can't agree, then I am free to decide for myself using Quran. Quran does not explicitly forbid music.
Further, the Psalms are songs and David played stringed instruments. If music were forbidden, we would not have Psalms.

Are you unaware that we don't use the bible as proof in fiqh?
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The view of the four Imaams is that all kinds of musical instruments are haraam. It was reported in Saheeh al-Bukhaari and elsewhere that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said that there would be among his ummah those who would allow zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments, and he said that they would be transformed into monkeys and pigs… None of the followers of the imaams mentioned any dispute concerning the matter of music. (al-Majmoo’, 11/576).
Al-Albaani (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: The four madhhabs are agreed that all musical instruments are haraam. (al-Saheehah, 1/145).

Again, you can be a sect that has a different opinion on music, but don't claim ahlul sunnah accept it.
