I'm considering weighing my options on whether or not I should go back to Catholicism or try Islam. I have been to a mosque, and I enjoyed my time there, but there are a few minor things I'm concerned with. I've been doing some research, and I've come to the conclusion that Muhammad (PBUH) was a prophet, but I can't decide if he was the final one. I believe in a kind and merciful God, but I see some of the things He commanded to Muhammad as rather at odds with being merciful. Do any of you have some suggestions or words of wisdom?

What made you leave Catholicism?

My family was not treated well by the Church. I'd rather spare you the details. Regardless, I left because my family did.

You should have good theological reasons for why you leave or join any faith.
This will strengthen your faith life and conviction in your faith.

I was about 6 when it happened. I've grown to understand that it was a rather rash decision, hence why I am willing to give them another chance on the grounds that I need more method, ritual and structure in my life, all of which are in both Catholicism and Islam.

Asalamu Aleykum,
What do you find at odds with being merciful? What bothers you about Islam?

The choice is obvious.
