Morsi was democratically and him being taken down was clearly due to some external party compromising order in Egypt (for example, you can find good evidence online that the protests against him, which the media said was in numbers over 20 million, was actually less than 1 million). That's exactly why I'm wondering why the popular media is now siding against elSisi, he must be somehow better than we thought, and they probably are aiming for someone even worse than him to take power now.

The problem isn't whether there's a much better alternative to elSisi or not (obviously, there is), its whether there's any chance a better alternative will actually come and replace him. Democracy in Egypt seems to have failed, as it usually does.

John Oliver's show is hardly "popular media". It's a very select audience and is viewed, on average, by about 2 million people per week. Considering the US population is 370 million, that's not a lot of people.
