Are Alevis okay here? Or do you think they're some kind of degenerates?

I'm on the brink of converting and i think their form of Islam might be something for me, though they only seem to exist in Turkey and a few in Germany.

>music and dancing in worship services

>men and women mix during prayer

>don't use the 5 daily prayers or prostration

Don't be misguided by a reformist movement.

Alevis are not considered muslim by anyone's standards. They worship Muhammad (pbuh) cousin Ali and don't follow the 5 pillars of islam and they consider the quran to be corrupted, which takes you out of islam. I would suggest reading the quran and doing more research.

Alevis are Mushrikeens and drink wine for a communion. They are hostile to Islam and are the sect of Bashar al Assad.

They are in a nutshell an ethnic group that has made its own religion. When christians are strong they act christian and call themselves christian, when muslims are strong they do the same.

If you mean Turkish Alevis, not the kurdish ones (yarsanists) or syrian ones (alawites), then you cannot convert anyway because they don't accept converts

My family is alevis who converted to sunnism

The Alevis believe in a trinity like godhead they call "Haqq-Muhammad-Ali". They believe Allah, the Prophet, and Imam Ali dwell in one being. Can't get more mushrik than that.

This is an old thread but I had not noticed it… anyways to OP or any other newcomers at this point:

When I myself became interested about Islam, I had this preconceived notion that it was all about style over substance… I was obsessed with Iran and Shiism. But then of course when I actually learned about *Islam* and not just internet memes about it, I became clearly convinced towards Sunni, so much that I find the term Sunni redundant when discussing Islam…
