I have a tip for you.
You're not gonna like it.
Whatever the trance is meant to achieve, get into the habit of not looking forward to it.
Try and trance when you're relaxed and mellow, sleepy but not exhausted, and take the trance as just a chance to relax.
My best successes with hypnosis recordings have come when I felt like trancing and wasn't bothered what was on the recording (beyond it not being something I found distasteful, I mean).
My worst results have been when I got excited about what a file was meant to do. When that happened, it invariably never achieves it.
Same goes for your worry about trancing and coming out of it. If you "think" you're coming "out" of trance, just forget about it.
If you're really "I am wide awake and not relaxed", then turn it off, get some sleep and try again another day. Don't let it bother you.
Sorry if you find this advice understandably infuriating. Personal belief is there is no magic " just eat this", "only trance after five days abstinence", "tap your fingers on your head before every trance" type solution.
Its all about letting go, during the session but also outside to stop perceived "failures" interfering with future sessions.
