It can work, but it might take some genuine practice to feel much in the way of an effect. Hypnosis isn't mind control like you'd see on TV, it's a more subtle experience.
Worst case scenario, it's pretty relaxing, to pop in some headphones, play a soothing audio and listen to a sweet honey voice as you drift off :)
