I like his room. Small and comfy. I want that kind of room. Not too big, just small enough for myself.

I kinda envy the kind of rooms they have in Japan. Usually small and even if it looks like it's tight space everywhere you go, it's not that bad.

My PCs right in front of my bed. I put that little desk with the keyboard on my pillow, and once I need to sleep, I put it back on my desk. Wish I could put my PC under the desk, but the headphone cord is too short.

The DVD player I use exclusively as an audio center, since it can handle 14 speakers being plugged into it.

Have a CRT. I don't even have cable, so I only keep it around for consoles. And I usually throw my clothes on it, too. Below that, some sock drawers and a drawer for dry foods - honey biscuits, cereal, coffee, tea, sugar.

The door used to have glass but that broke a while ago, so it's now just cardboard.

Shitty bedside cabinet that I built myself out of spare furniture parts. I keep a coffee maker and an electric kettle on it, so I could make a cup of coffee or tea right as I awake. Not much in the cabinet itself other than some notebooks.

There's a shelf by the wall. Have vidya stuff on the top sections, books on the bottom. Next to that, another clothes closet. That's one thing I should clear out, since there's a ton of stuff that I will simply never wear.

Yes I'm just one of those hikkis who likes to keep clean for the most part didn't care about it in my early hikki years but in recent years have started to keep clean because if I'm gonna spend the majority of my time in my room may as well keep that room neat and orderly, and throw away as much garbage as possible whenever i can though i still have a very bad hoarding habit and sometimes i forget to clean there is a pile of crap on my dresser that you can't see in the picture.

These setups make me feel like I'm even failing at being a hikki. I look at your clean rooms with nice stuff and I look around at the trash on my floor and the fact I'm using old boxes for furniture for my tv and stuff and just am stricken with misery.

How did you get money? I don't even have 2 cents to rub together, and that's the biggest concern, I worry every day something that is holding me together is going to break and I can't replace it.

For a month I did a contract, remote programming work. That seems the only way to get any kind of income, sadly. Either that or social security/disability, which my family is pushing for me to do. But I'm already severely depressed as it is. What a way to make me feel even more a loser; having the government take care of me.

Shit gets worse if you let it. It breaks if you let it, as we know.

I should try to learn programming then, it always felt like a monumental task because I'm a dumbass failure with no skills. I dropped out of school when I was 14 due to horrific bullying and never learned beyond elementary school math. Is there a way to crash course all the math I need to know to even begin learning programming? Is it worthwhile to do? I'm already 30 years old, god damn, life really passes you by…

For the type of work that is remote, you don't need to know much, if any math beyond elementary stuff.

I really recommend working through https://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/LispBook/book.pdf as an introduction to programming. For a Lisp environment download https://portacle.github.io/ and read that entire page.

For remote work, javascript and python are usually what seems wanted. Work is found via shitty Hacker News "Who's hiring" threads and remote contract sites.

And it's not a monumental task, but it is a long-term one. This stuff takes a while before it starts clicking and you feel confident. Expect to feel like a dumbass for a while. I still do.

And I know your situation, I'm pretty similar in regards to dropping out of school. Really if I think about it, I only finished middle school. I did my freshman year in highschool before dropping out, and my math knowledge isn't beyond basic algebra. I really should learn more.

I just turned 20.

Yeah, I spent my entire freshman year in high school wandering around campus alone and trying to ditch school before I eventually just dropped out, and in middle school it felt like I learned nothing anyway and passed with straight Fs because there was some law I think that made it so they can't hold kids back in middle school unless a parent agrees to it. I had been bullied as long as I can remember, I wasn't cut out for those public schools, not that they were really conductive to learning anyway. They were already full of gang members and pregnant kids drinking and smoking in the bathrooms by the time I hit 13. Such is life in a ghetto, I guess.

I'm in a similar situation. I love soda, but I'm a bit overweight, so now I limit myself to 1 8oz. can per day. I'm really trying to focus on portion control in general. It takes a fair bit of willpower and I do alright most days, but it's a slow process with even slower results.

Glad I'm not the only one. For all the time I've spent on chans, it still surprises me when people post time-stamped pictures of their pissbottle collections, as if it's a point of pride. I do tend to get pretty lazy, but I don't think I could ever allow myself to have such poor hygiene as to piss in bottles, especially not to the point of building up a collection.

I used a English Chinese Translator App, it actually worked very well, I was there for a computer class. I never left my room but I had to go there for a private lesson. But I couldn't deal with it and had to leave. Now I'm back in my room north of Chicago, I've been there for ever. The trip was the hardest thing I ever did in my life, I didn't know if I was going to make it or not. But I'm still alive, I'll stay where I am now until death I depart. I've been practicing meditation for over 10 years and can turn off my 5 senses at will, it took a long time to gain that skill. It's the only thing that keeps my head screwed on when I get in a crowd of people.

If I go blind, the little joy I get out of life as it is, is down the gutter. If I'm on the computer or doing nonsleep-activities, I have the light on.

I do love the dark, though. I wish I could sit on my laptop in pitch blackness forever sometimes. I hope someone invents a better version of human eyes that don't get weakened by dumb shit like that.

I have a big window in my room, and the only things I can see outside that window are trees and woodland creatures, so I don't mind opening my blinds to let the natural light come in. There is something comforting about the darkness though. I guess it's because during the night everyone is asleep and everything is quiet, which makes it feel like there is no world outside our rooms. Ultimately, however, I prefer low light, just enough to find my way to the bathroom or kitchen, but no more than that.

>>1822

>>1823

I also think it's a myth. I'm no optometrist, but I would imagine that you would have to put your eyes through some pretty harsh conditions to suffer significant loss of vision. I can't imagine what you would have to do to actually blind yourself, apart from a major injury to the head or eyes.

I do this during the spring and summer time and the only things outside my windows are grass and trees also do open my windows for fresh air but i never put my window blinds up all the way because i value my privacy and i'm pretty sure most other hikkis do as well.

It tends to give me a shitty headache if I do it for too long, but I'll go ahead and ask my doctor whenever I see them next.

Darkness is so nice. It's like living in a cave with wi-fi. It also makes my pigsty of a room less depressing. I'm not miserable enough to have piss bottles (anymore) but it's still… Well, I'm lazy & unmotivated, & live in a tiny place. Any time I clean up, it gets messy again when I get too tired to care.

I'll try to take a picture of it when I clean up anything too incriminating. (Anything identifiable as me, that is.)

Exactly hikikomori are basically modern digital age hermits but instead of living in dark caves or in cabins in the woods. We are in our dark bedrooms ether on the internet watching tv or playing video games or something else that isn't that.

Like I said, the only things outside my window are trees. No one could look in on me even if they wanted to. If it weren't for that, my blinds would be closed all the time as well. You're right though, It's common for hikkis to be very private people, myself included. In fact that's what separates us most from a simple NEET, we are completely shut in, rather than just jobless and a bit introverted.

Oh i've been hikki for 5 years. Pretty common spiral from a disinterest in school to dropping out to complete isolation for a long time. I'm here now because my dad died and my mother is crazy. At one of my lowest points of total isolation sleeping during the day, piss bottles, for almost a month of not speaking to anyone in my very active and full house my mom went on some crazy tirade screaming at me one morning because she thought i was just ignoring her because i'm an asshole and told me to get the fuck out. I knew she was just having a fit but i was in such a bad place and so tired of my mother i did a very hard thing and called my uncle and asked if i could go live with him. So now i'm here and i don't talk to my mother. The amount of stress i deal with here is minimal compared to living at home but i'd say overall i'm worse now just by how much my mind has degraded over the years.

It was terrible and I was sore for days from hauling around luggage, but we traveled at night and live in the middle of nowhere so the plane was nearly empty. Didn't help much that I'm afraid of heights and open spaces in general. I wanted to die when the tsa guy looked in my backpack and found my dakimora. If we weren't in public my Dad would've killed me for bringing it along, but I couldn't stand leaving her alone in my suitcase.

He's getting old and with the recent cancer scare he's probably worried about dying and his genes dying with me. He just wants what he thinks is best for me and I don't have the heart to tell him that It's not going to happen. I have neither will nor want to date or have sex with 3DPD, but he thinks I just need to "put myself out there and I'll find someone for me". Put simply he still has hope in me 'cause I'm not exceptionally ugly or something.

Besides that, I'm a khv and have never shown any interest in adult women, my waifu is a loli, and the daki was clothed but still lewd. He's probably put 1 and 1 together and found out I'm a pedo, but maybe I'm just paranoid.

I know that feel. I used to move a lot when I was a kid which made it hard to maintain friendships. After a while, I stopped getting close to people because I knew I would just have to pick up and leave again someday. Aside from that, repeatedly packing and unpacking all of your worldly possessions gets very tiring. Now I try to keep as few things as possible, and I can pack and move all my things in a day or two if need be.

Over the past few years I've been dancing around internet companies with their 6 month welcome offers but I ran out of companies last summer and so I had to put my pc on my balcony so I could get free wifi. I got a great tan and burnt the side of my face but good thing a new company came into town just in time for winter. Still riding this one out for now but my date is coming up fast.

>Little cubbyhole for computer desk

Looks comfy anon.

On a side note; how do you fags take pictures? Cell phones? If yes why do you have a cell phone? Doesn't seem like something the majority of us have any use for. I haven't had a cell since I shut myself in nearly 7 years ago, and I don't have any other means of taking pictures either so unfortunately I can't share my room. Have a crappy paint drawing of the general layout instead.

Nice room.

Is the chair IKEA?

If so, would you recommend it? Is it comfortable? I've had severe back pain recently and decided to change my chair.

As someone witch back pain himself, based on how the chair looks I'd get something different. You'll want something that supports your back and shoulders well while sitting as straight as possible. That chair's backrest is at too much of an angle for that, it's also awfully low to the ground (probably due to the size of the desk) which makes for awkward sitting and posture unless you're tiny, and in the end your posture is the most important.

Here's an example of good and bad posture, as well as examples of chairs I'd personally get. If your tall, something with a slightly larger backrest may be more desirable.

Also don't forget to get up and stretch every couple hours. Taking a walk/pacing around your room is also not a bad idea.
