I only have a boring, generic answer like
>good conversations
>fun activity
>good food
>both feel comfortable and appropriately dressed
>no fighting or getting mad
I'd consider that a success.

I do know what a bad date.
I had a date with a fatso. We went to watch turbo and it was AWKWARD. I only went with him for popcorn and bailed. He was obviously shitting his pants and wouldn't say a word even tho going there was his idea.
Despite having snails, the movie sucked.

If you ever played a Persona game, you know all about social links.
If, at the end of the date, you could hear the vid-related song playing in your head because your relationship with the person is now deeper, then that's an alright date. It works with friends too.

Met my current gf in a dating site. R8 my d8.
>we did only exchange a couple of messages
>"wanna go play some volleyball?" as first message
>between messages asked her what her favorite flower was
>sunflower
>fast forward to the day of the date
>put some nice, not tryhard clothes
>buy a sunflower
>we met at a park near her place
>she turned out to be shy and new to the whole dating strangers game
>I saw potential and since the first minutes of conversation I told her I am not looking for games, but something serious. Not gonna waste my time with a woman that won't be the mother of my children.
>we went to a quiet bar so we could keep talking
>sat outside and started sharing experiences
>after a couple of hours, brought her home
>somewhat flirty talking in front of door
>before I fucked up by staying too long, lean to her, kissed her cheek and said goodbye
>she was grinning after the kiss
>go home
Next day I called her, she didn't answer.
Called me about five minutes later and we set up a new date some days later.
She says the first date was perfect.
How do you anonettes r8 my d8?

So, without going too dramatically into detail (and just explaining why I have this specific experience) I got a bunch of emotional problems, but I'm good looking, high testosterone or whatever. I get a lot of girls with daddy issues. However, I was at a non-profit because I avoided going outside at all for a while during my teen years. Part of their strategy for getting me to go outside was having attractive college girls take me out places, which honestly was always good motivation. And before anyone makes a crack about it, no I'm not autistic. I'd taken tests online because I'm self-conscious and it's the go-to insult I get online when I describe my life, but I recently asked a shrink flat out if it was a possibility, and they gave me a test for it and specifically to put my mind at rest determined again, I have none of the criteria for it.
Anyway, the college girls took me places like to a movie, theme parks, boardwalks, canoeing, pottery barn, etc. It helps to think of it like you're planning a day of activities.
I can be somewhat socially oblivious at times, for the longest time I'd just invite girls over to watch movies totally unaware of the "netflix & chill" meme, or that I was on any level implying I just wanted to fuck, it just seemed like a good option to me because I was poor and it required little social interaction with anyone but her. But obviously, rule stuff like this out until it's already been established your relationship is pretty cozy and includes regular sex.
As for what I do now? One of my standard early dates is to take her to the zoo, usually followed by eating somewhere. I live near a fairly high-quality zoo, and there's a couple animals that make for very pleasant interactions that on date after date have delivered for me and made the trip worth it.
Everyone recommends against movies, but other than it feeling like a waste of money from my perspective they're always nice because as soon as the movie ends you can go get drinks or coffee or something and you have the entire film to discuss to get the conversation going, but it is around 90 minutes sitting next to someone in the dark and only interacting to the extent you're comfortable with eachother, so definitely not ideal for a first date.
I live relatively close to South Padre, and that place is ideal for dates. Beach picnics, waterparks, lots of pretty unique restaurants and gift shops, mini golf, there's a gravity park place with a bunch of bungee rides. Typically I plan for two activities, go to a place and do a thing, and eat somewhere.
If you are to the stage you're doing the movie at home thing, cook a meal together. That's always fun.
If you can afford it depending on your distance or if you have a car that can make the drive easily, I'm fond of a weekend at Vegas. Get a nice hotel room for a couple nights, see one of the shows like Cirque or Phantom, hit one of the more expensive buffets and maybe an arcade, take a tour of the strip, spend the rest of the time relaxing in the hotel room.

I was gonna say you blew it since almost every girl I ever said something like that to so early on ended up blowing me off and not in the good way but I guess I just came across as 'not relationship material' because I was always easy going, and not financially secure if it actually does work 4U

Dude, unless you're writing a book or telling a story or doing something else which involves all the details being necessary I would try to keep things relatively concise and to the point if you want people to pay attention. I can guarantee, 45% of what you put is just useless filler you world normally use as a trick when you try to boost the word count of your essays.

No, I just post from experience. Someone *always* has some banal critique of my post. Too long, too short, too vague, too specific. Fucking arbitrary goldilocks everywhere. Writing it I imagined because it was coming from a guy's perspective some of the early ones might be criticized for how simply I remembered them, so I thought I'd specify "Well, these were the ideas the college girls I was with gave me." and then I thought *that* might give the impression I was claiming to have been dating them or something. Whenever I write something I'm writing with how it'll be received in mind.
It was actually going to be a paragraph longer, I was going to say a lot of it depends on who you're going on a date with and mention dating one girl who was really into egyptology and the titanic who I went to all sorts of museum exhibits with all the time, while another liked baseball so we went to games every so often, but I was running late to work so I left it as is.

Naturally those wasn't my first words after seeing her, but I did introduce myself in the most honest way possible. From then in five years and a small briefing about my world view.
Gotta say anon, the best you can ever do in a date is just being yourself that doesn't mean scratch your ballsack in front of her and being honestDon't start praising Hitler as your first move. You have to have something to offer.
I am already a house owner 25 y/oand working as Maths teacher. That alone puts me on a higher ground than most spergs here.

Hey man, well that's great. It was actually my thesis for a long time. I respect honesty and trust and the truth above pretty much anything else, and it actually got me into trouble quite a few times. After getting kicked out of my place for a bit among other things, I realised I had to choose my words more carefully in front of people whose sole intention it was to judge you, which was why I actually never got accepted into any of the job interviews I went to before I was 19, and probably also why I wasn't in my first real relationship until I was the same age, and even that was a travesty because I scraped the bottom of the barrel. A year or so later I finally met the girl who respects me as much as I respect her, but even so I had to get hurt before I did. I still try to remain as honest as I can though, and if I have to choose my words carefully sometimes I find that as acceptable losses.

Meeting for breakfast or brunch
Hanging out with some friends for drinks or a matinee or something cool like golf
Going to a park or driving out to the county and walking around old towns and villages or something, fishing
Or just walking around and hanging out in a park listening to music or teaching each other sports or whatever
Hanging out after dark on a river front, or walking around downtown, maybe grabbing another small bite to eat and a drink
Finish the night off with another movie and some real dinner, at my place perhaps, with some pizza, snacks, popcorn, and ice cream, playing video games and getting drunk, kissing and fucking then talking about our deepest desires until we fall asleep in each other's arms waking up to a blow job or her to breakfast.
I don't really know. Maybe playing music or doing some artsy shit all day, hanging out and working on a project getting something to eat and drink during breaks. There's always the shopping route, just going shopping at every place in town, hanging around the mall or some outlet strips. Swimming at a lake or on the beach. Camping? Just feeling good about being together and feeling like I have no other responsibilities to worry about.

heh reminds me of one of the first dates i went on
long story though:
>meet girl online through FUCKIN MYSPACE, we meet up at her house
>her dad was unironically loading a gun and smoking like a goddamn cartoon character as I enter
>we hang out in her backyard for about ten minutes before leaving through her side gate
>walk around the town, notice her dad is following us
>we decide to go to defunct train tracks to ditch him
>i had some smokes, we smoke one and she puts a flower in my hair(i had long ass girly hair at the time that i'd pull back and hide under a skullcap in front of other people's parents)
>we split up, agree to catch a movie later
>meet up at the mall in her town, i have never been to a mall before in my life(im from a VERY small town and grew up in a winery, had a very strange and isolated upbringing)
>act like a retarded tourist , first time seeing other gothbois IRL as well
>she shows me gamestop because she knows i like vidyas
>play star wars republic commando instead of talking to her
>movie time
>i sit there silently watching it, catch her looking at me at one point
<tfw she was probably trying to kiss me and i was too much of a sperg to do anything
>movie about 1/3 over
>she tells me she has to go
>okay.jpg
>try watching the rest alone, fall asleep because im tired as fuck and haven't gone out anywhere in a month
>wake up to some black fucker shaking me and shining a flashlight in my face
>glare at him, catch bus home
>schizo throws his nasty coat over the back of the seat in front of me, gets dirt on my pants
shortly after this i got a license and every other date ive been on was just
<hey anon give me a ride to X
<okay.jpg
>good chance of carsex.gif
<you will never be one of the first kids in your(very small) school to get a car and instantly become incredibly attractive to grills ever again in your life

I've searched the interwebs for advice on this but did not find anything useful; my friend (25 year old girl) really likes this guy who is a bit older than her. What is the difference between a younger man and an older man in terms of dates and intimate activities? The man in question is 46 and sort of the oblivious type (he has no idea she likes him but she might ask him out if it isn't too weird).Any advice or info? For my friend…

I don't understand what value you see in a 46 years old autist who can't even tell when a girl is into him.
To answer you, when dating, older people don't often have the time to wait for endless flirting, like their young counterparts, and they hate taking risks.
It's possible he likes you too, but doesn't want to risk being flagged as a sexual harrasser.
Make your move, and good luck :3

My best date was one where he gave me clues and teasers about the date. It was a cheap but fun date - we walked around downtown watching street vendors and performers while talking about world issues. He asked me to dinner after. I enjoyed solving the puzzles to figure out where we were going and what we were doing. Thinking back, he planned it really well. If he hadn't liked my company, he could've bailed after the walk downtown and not needed to spend a dime on dinner, since I had no idea what was coming next.
The worst date was one I thought I was going to just hang out, but he was trying to get out of the friend zone and he didn't realize I didn't respect him. I kept insisting that I would pay for my share of everything (so I wouldn't feel like it was a date) and he kept talking about what married life together would be like. It freaked me out. Anytime a guy gives me all the power in a relationship, I bail. He needs to have self-respect and earn my respect.
