I support whatever decision you take so long as you stay healthy.
That said if you want the humble opinion of someone who's into workouts out of fun and not professionally, do you find it worth it to obtain "gains" so long as you're hooked to a substance?
If you improve naturally, you will always 100% know that whatever you earn is deserved, and your confidence will improve accordingly, but what happens when an external chemical is having you get what you want? Where does the line blur between what you are capable to do and what does the substance allow you to do? How far are you willing to push your dose to get just another couple reps? That's how addictions are born, so promise (to yourself) you'll be really careful. Make your research, ask as many questions as you can, look into lowering the side effects (&/or lowering the chance of any side effect showing up whatsoever) and for God's sake avoid doing steroids if you have a heart condition, so get a checkup first.
