What do you all (boyim and femalams) think about Tomboys ? Just to be clear I'm talking about actual tomboys, not SJWs, feminists, transexuals, etc.

I would assume that the majority of the female lurkers here are tomboys to some degree, since shitposting on image boards is a male-centric hobby.

I like tomboys, what else is there to say. The question, in my case, is if they'd like me. Are you trying to ask what's wrong with them?

I actually met a really cool tomboy at work but I don't have the balls to ask her if she wanted to go out for a drink or anything. She loves coaching people, she plays sports. One time she outright stated "I really fucking hate niggers" when we were alone and in response I went on some spaghetti spilling rant about how stupid some people are when it comes to interactions with the police. I don't really hate niggers, I just hate stupid people.

That's not to say she was some uncaring person. We'd constantly make fun of how deep down she really cares and she'd blush. It's basically a tough exterior.

I shit you not, this actually happened. Fuck I want to kill myself. I blew it, fam. Not that I realistically had a chance.

As long as that tomboy does stuff because she likes it, and not because guys do it, then she's OK. I mean look at me, I play Yugioh and yet I don't give a fuck what guys think (most serious yugioh players are fat, ugly, egocentristic for some reason and smell like sweaty armpit. I actually had a phase where I thought I was a boy. I am completely aware of how wrong that was, but it was unironically /pol/ that got me out of it. When I think about the fact that people exist who want to encourage this in young children, who want to give hormones to 13 year old kids…It makes me fucking rage. If I had done what they wanted me to, I would have killed myself by now, because you dont really go back from that

The support groups I was in online are 100% out of the how-to-run-a-cult playbook.

What's even worse is that apparently, most kids with these feelings will grow out of them. Now so many people who would otherwise be relatively healthy and happy have been tricked.

>who want to give hormones to 13 year old kids

Just wanted to mention they are now advocating for hormone treatment of 3 year olds. Toddlers are officially (at least in my country) able to verbally signal their gender and it could be labelled potential abuse if you ignore the child's self-identification. I have thought some pretty outlandish things in my kid years and the notion that a child can be viewed as completely self-aware would be laughable if it were not so dangerous.

I've met many tomboys, but I've never met one who wasn't desperate to express their femininity deep down. They either feel insecure displaying it because they don't think they're pretty enough to pull it off, they feel wrong doing it because they've become so used to the tomboy persona they've created for themselves that they don't feel they're allowed to change, or they've rejected their femininity because they view it as a weakness and are ashamed of it. It can be hard to crack the tomboy shell, but once you do they take to their femininity more than any other. They also tend to be naturally pretty and have nice skin because they haven't been abusing makeup for years, in my experience.

It's semi-true

When someone is tomboyish from the moment that they could possibly be called a tomboy, it has nothing to do with any self esteem issues they might have or social pressures. Some women are naturally more masculine in behavior than others, and it has to do with what they value.

However, tomboys still are female, so of course they have feminine interests still and some feminine leanings - and once their image of being a tomboy has become a social thing and reinforced, then you get what that anon described where their behaviors are a mix of their natural tomboy instincts AND personal fear about trying to be girly after so long.

Once I hit the age where I became a truly social creature I did go overly hard into the tomboy stuff ("pink sucks!"). Now, Im way more comfortable with everything that I like. I like pink and flowers, but everyone I know would still describe be as extremely masculine - my boyfriend has commented that I speak to men the way men speak to men.

I think that this is because there's the true underlying nature of tomboys that is what makes them tomboys in the first place, and then theres the surface 'tomboy aesthetic' which actually is unconnected to the tomboy mental status.

Well we better define some of these values - a tomboy is what she is because she values things that men usually tend to value, as opposed to valuing the things women usually tend to value. I think that this stems from who the young child chooses to emulate/thinks they should be like. All human beings in their early development meet different 'characters' and who they become depends on who they think they should emulate.

It's the difference between the little girl who wants to wear shorts because theyre comfortable and easy to wear, and the little girl who (without external pressure to be this way) wants to wear a pretty dress because she wants to be pretty like mommy and other adult women.

I dont have extensive memories of when I was very young, but the youngest back I can go (4) Im aware that I cared about being 'cool' and 'tough', that I genuinely did not understand why people would choose things that were less useful or comfortable just for their looks, and I also wanted to be a brave warrior/strong predator animal. I put dresses on toy alligators.

As for the effect it has interacting with men:

All of my friends are men, and online ones at that. There aren't any women that I've met that I can get along with, family being the exception. I cant really compare the experience of interacting with men as not a tomboy vs being a tomboy, I only have the one, but I think something different for me than a lot of other women is the extreme casual nature of the interactions. Theyre more relaxed around me and I around them, there isnt as wide of a divide between us, they feel less pressure to impress, and I dont have any sense of myself as female and them as male - I dont feel our sex difference in our interactions. I think this is because my default mode of social interaction is to cast myself in a male light, in my own self perception.

So you were raised in a manner of strength being a requirement? Some kind of harsh upbringing? I suppose that'd explain most tomboys, either that, or they just really liked their dad.

That's definitely a net negative, with it giving you more of a platonic relationship with men (you know what they say about that), and an even less friendly one to your own sex. I'm not sure if that's more your fault, or just the mindset.

Disclaimer: this post and the subject matter and contents thereof - text, media, or otherwise - do not necessarily reflect the views of the 8kun administration.

 No.18193

I guess you could say that, but this was my personality long before my life became hard enough it would result in that. Plenty of women also were raised in rough times and are stronger people, but arent tomboys.

Its specifically about your outward valuations. A woman raised in a rough childhood will be more emotionally steady, she will handle crisis better - but she wont have made herself that way intentionally or even be conscious of it a lot of the time.

I actually dont consider it a negative at all. Since my personality is more 'masculine' I clearly prefer more masculine behavior patterns and what not. From my perspective, being able to hang out with the average woman doesnt sound appealing, but hanging out with Joe Shmoe sounds pretty alright. I wish my relationship with men could be more platonic than it is - just because we can hang out in a chill way far more often than is normal doesnt mean that suddenly my friend turns into the guy who is overly interested in me and I feel bad about telling him no. Its not as if it was a barrier at all to me finding Mr. Right

No. If anything, it's a draw for mates. I think every fellow would like a woman they could understand, this day and age. Honestly, you shouldn't let your prime years fly you by, but instead legitimately consider them, even if they show no interest. Parenthood is best done early than too late.

I think it's really something at least partly grounded in genetics, it's part of the difference between men and women and certainly much of that is inherent - our necessary dimorphism as social animals. Natural preferences/modes of thinking lead to a different experience of the environment which reinforces certain things…etc etc

And yea I know, the reason I said that is because Ive already found him. It's LDR at the moment, but in a year it wont be. We'll take a year or so to enjoy being together as us, but we both really want a large family.

I'm pretty sure it's not anything even remotely close to that. This isn't some kind of medical disorder. It's obviously some kind of mental issue that causes this mode of thinking, and as with most its definitely something influenced through one's childhood. Either you think it started earlier than it really did, or you simply haven't mentioned what could be the influence to this way of thinking.

That's not good. There is way too much room for disaster, in that kind of scenario. Be careful.
