Sup, cunts

Need a fresh OS for my absolutely fucked PC, because some niggers doxxed me and rekt my machine.

I have a decent grasp on Windows and I've dabbled with Raspbian OS.

The machine has no CD drive.

I do have a blank USB I can use, and a (slow as fuck) spare machine to build the boot thingy, but I need anons input because I'm not a techie by trade.

I'm considering Rasp Desktop (because I know the basics, and it's free) but I'll consider my options.

i7, 256gb SSD, Nvidea graphics (its a razer blade with no bluetooth and the screen/lid ripped off)

Also, any tips on how to make and use a USB boot OS installer thing? Guides exist but I'm fucking retarded so I need ELI5

Install MX Linux, I use it daily with no issues, the creators have fine tuned it so that it supports most systems without you needing to tweak much.

Download it from here, make sure to get an x64 copy for your machine.

https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/iso-download-mirrors/

To make a bootable USB on windows download the program Rufus from https://rufus.ie

It is very simple, just select the USB and the iso file for MX. It handles the rest.

Then you need to tell your computer to boot from the USB. I think on a Razer Blade you can do this by pressing F12 while the computer is booting up. From there you should see a menu with the option to boot from your USB drive.

Once you've booted into the USB, you already have access to most of what MX linux has to offer. On the desktop you should see an option to install MX onto your computer. Once you start that all you have to do is follow its instructions.

Here's a screenshot of my own MX desktop environment. I have a high dpi monitor so your set up will probably look a bit different.

How does MX Linux compare to such as Debian, Ubuntu, Manjaro, or just Arch or Gentoo? Primarily looking at Manjaro but I'd like to hear about MX and maybe use it.

Seconding MX Linux. The only downside I know of is that it looks quite ugly and dated out of the box. However a good thing about it that it has it own set of GUI programs for tasks which originally required tweaking config files or using command line.

It is based on Debian stable with addition of it's own repos so it is like Ubuntu (or Xubuntu more specifically) however using the package manager you can even add programs from Debian unstable. This seems a bit complicated but it is quite well executed.

Manjaro, another well polished offering, is in comparison a rolling release distro so there is always a chance of a new update breaking the system. The same holds true for Arch.

Here is a quite comprehensive review of MX Linux: https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/mx-19.html
