Why do people keep saying Linux will dominate the PC world? It barely has 2% market share (3% if you could chromeos)

Because idiot nerds need the validation of mainstream acceptance like they need herpes from some used-up slut just so they can say they're not virgins anymore.
When has an intelligent person espoused the need for "year of linux" or even claimed it would be a good thing?

Majority of the Linux userbase are bipolar retards who simultaneously want Linux to win the hearts and minds of every computer user, all the while telling anyone who doesn't like any part of it to fuck off and "we don't want you anyway".

The linux community is a cesspool, and like most other cesspools they self-select by constantly repeating retarded lies and yelling at anyone disrupting the circlejerk.
"Year of Linux" is one such lie, it's especially popular because it pushes true believers into telling more and more outrageous lies such as counting server usage when talking about desktop, pretending that Android is a win for Linux, counting IOT security nightmares running closed source code as a Linux success...

"Year of Linux" is short for "UNIX design and it's community can't win on their own terms", so they slowly chip away each year at those principles, hoping it'll attract outsiders. If and when it truly does win out, there won't be much left, and it'll have all been a pointless endeavor to begin with.

>Linux is for scientists to write patent, genome sequencing, mining, crypto, simulating, and other professional shit related to Computing.
Any OS can do that. Also real scientists tend to be total niggers at programming and just use python anyway.

I'm sure you've got a lot of experience in all those areas.
