I'm making a new PC for torrenting and watching 1080p anime. Only question is what should I get for the CPU,RAM,and GPU? For CPU the Mobo I picked is an AM4 socket so I can only really use AMD CPU, and I want one that can run 5 apps at once. For RAM how much do I need? I was thinking of 8GB, for GPU I want the cheapest one that can easily support 1920x1080 and 1080p video. Would a GT 710 do the job?

Pic semi related.

What OS do you want to use on that machine? If you really just watch anime and browse the web with many open tabs, 8 GB should be enough. On Linux. Don't bother with anything <=16GB if you want to run Windows. Probably almost any CPU will do and almost any GPU will do.

God no. Just get a used 2400G instead.

More than enough, really. I have a htpc / torrent box running on 4GB and that is plenty, on Linux. The GPU is an old ATI 6950 I had lying around, which is overkill for an htpc but allows me to play DX10-era games (bioshock runs comfortably, as does anything older).

8GB would be more future-proof in case his needs change, but for what he has stated 4GB will do the job just fine.

I'm using W10. I don't like it, but I know how to remove most of the bloat, and I'm so bad at linux I can't even use the *ubuntus.

I'm going to get a 1030GT to let me play pre 2010 games with ease, 8gb should help that.

Here is a planned build I made for this, 32TB for torrent storage, and a midline CPU to also help future proof.

That's absolute bullshit, with 8 GB RAM win10 idles at less than 2 GB and you'll absolutely not use up 6 GB with anything less than a hundred or so open tabs (also use "native lazy tabs" if you're using a chromium browser, that way you can unload tabs you're not using).

8 GB can be tight if you're playing certain vidya, especially modded minecraft and factorio, but that's not OP's case.

I'm on Windows right now, let's see

>Waterfox with 200 tabs open

>PDF Reader with 15 documents open

>Winamp

Takes about 6GB of RAM. So 8GB might work for this but you'd have to worry about memory consumption once you actually use the machine.

200 tabs is very much on the high side, I'm surprised you have memory to spare at that point.

In any case, if 8 GB is enough for that it will be plenty for OP's anime.

How do you remove the windows 10 bloat and telemetry? As much as possible, that is. Is there a clear and defined way of disabling updates forever?

Haven't used W10 in a while but I don't think there's a way to disable updates. At most you can tell it to keep it to a certain schedule to not fuck up your workflow

This video links to good debloating tools that I use https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU5F01oOzQQ

Also go into properties for your disk drives and turn off indexing.
