So I'm working on a font in fontforge and want the last letters in every word to appear different.

I already figured out there is a "fina" table.

However Windows, Chrome, LibreOffice have it disabled by default and their implementation is broken so every letter becomes the last letter variant.

Any way around this? Do I really have to wait till I'm a grandfather and shitty nudevs implement it?

Yeah this thread is also on /b/. Just forgot we have better board than /techbunker/ now.

I feel like this is probably a troll post, given that Fredrick Brennan, who tried to destroy this site, is an OpenType expert and FontForge developer.

Anyway, guess you should email him. copypaste@kittens.ph :^)

No I did not know Cripplekike has fontforge knowledge and I doubt he ever even used that table (fina) or made a font with different starting or ending letters.

I serious. I just want some help with this.

What makes you think I've done so?

The only reason I know about OpenType at all is reading the kike's Twitter where he talks about this shit.

Exhibit A

https://ctrlcctrlv.github.io/TT2020/docs/moreinfo2.html

He endlessly spergs about this. He also manages the @FontForge Twitter, who knows how he got his hands onto it.

I really think you're trolling by asking a question so specific kikewheels is probably the only one who can answer it. It's like you're begging us to talk about him.

No, I'm not. I'm actually doing an ancient English font from before Gutenberg which has different word endings for n, m, g, d and so on.

This one is shit. Nigger forgot to do tt, ck, ch and many other ligatures. I open the font and it's a pain in my eye.

It's an OpenType font based on an outdated English orthography, exactly what you are making. It has features that switch out certain letters contextually, which work in Illustrator.

It's almost exactly what you're making. Again, you are asking for highly specialized knowledge. Hardly anyone makes fonts because quite frankly it is an extremely autistic hobby. Bite the bullet and email the cripple.

And that is why we have only shit fonts available. No one on the whole planet to do some basic fonts that were used over centuries.

And tons of "old" fonts that just want to be and don't even contain the letter ſ
