I use it. Seems like the best option left given that main unforked chrom* is botnet as hell and firefox is from mozilla who have proven themselves not to be trusted in recent years. I just wish there was a third option that is viable for daily use and not connected to the big 2 vendors.

It's one of the better chromium based browsers, and unfortunately chromium is the de facto standard at this point.

If you can afford to avoid chromium, a firefox fork like palemoon or waterfox might be ok: but expect to see a few more broken pages than usual (not like chromium has zero broken pages either, but still), also addon support is not guaranteed so very weird bugs might pop up in your specific config and there will be almost zero chance of them ever being fixed.

Some pages are broken because people are targeting Chrome specifically even if it's technically incorrect as far as confirmed web standards go.

Yes, I know, I said "the facto standard" for a reason.

It still doesn't matter to the end user, if you want to use a specific site and it doesn't work on firefox you're not going to switch because the web standards say it should work.

Also a significant amount of broken pages on both sides is due to the pages not updating to comply with modifications to the standards (almost always security stuff), and browsers implementing those changes in the most breaking way possible because they have no fucks to give.

Brave is good for normies who want something that protects their privacy and blocks ads out of the box. Tweaked Firefox or Tor are much better if you care enough.

I use it as a replacement for Chrome, because you always need Chrome for some sites that only work right with Chrome and for its dev tools. I wouldn't want to use Chrome/Brave/Chromium as my main browser though, I generally prefer Firefox/Waterfox.

Every modern browser will get a "high" spyware rating if you judge it by those criteria for making use of features such as safe browsing or auto updates which can actually make browsing safer for technically inept users.

Only for websites that don't play nicely with a hardened Firefox configuration.

Just like Iridium and ungoogled-chromium.

Does anyone need that feature for their browser to work?

But does it really or are you just exaggerating?

How would that work in detail?

it has a built in adblocker / tracker blocker and comes with sane defaults. if you finally break free of the autismo that doesn't benefit you and only hinders you (breaking a bunch of websites in the name of muh privacy even though its probably not doing anything except bloating your browser with extensions that break fucking everything), its a really good browser. i use it on all of my devices with rewards enabled for free crypto. if you stop trying to solve a problem that is almost impossible to solve without slowing your computer down to a snailspace, you'll enjoy your computer alot more

it's a meme, just use ungoogled chromium or icecat + uMatrix.
