ive never seen tags make any difference outside of e621. youre not going to get a yuge amount of views just because you autistically tag everything like tumblr.

You gotta get out and shill yourself, join as many sites or groups as possible ect. DA lets you add your art to groups which is way more effective than tagging ever was. Is there anything like that on FA?

Almost nobody uses tags well on FA because it's not required. On e621 the mods are fucking OBSESSIVE over tags, so most images get a metric fuckton of them. As others have said, tags won't make a difference on the number of views, anyway.

But to keep things simple:

Gender(s)

Species

Character/franchise if it's rule34

Whether it's straight, gay, bi, or solo

Any fetishes

is probably good enough. E621 gets autistic with things like every single body part, and colors and shit, but really nobody cares.

That would work great... if the tagging was consistently applied. You can't just search or blacklist with a single tag like that; you have to get ALL of them.

Supposing you don't want any girls in your searches? You'll have to blacklist "female", "girl", "male/female", "female/female", "breasts", "vaginal", "straight", "lesbian" and a bunch of others I'm probably forgetting. Even then, sometimes you get some dumb fuck who uploads an image with four tags: "fox", "sex", "tail" and "vagnal_penetration".

An enticing thumbnail is important too. If your pic is so detailed that the viewer can't tell what's going on in a shrunken 200×200px thumbnail, make the thumbnail a crop of the enticing bits like the faces or genitals. Don't be afraid to be inspired by YouTube clickbait thumbnails.

This is true. I remember once I was looking for a comic, and I couldn't remember any particular details about it except that the two MCs had sex and got knotted in a shower. Searching "knotted" and "shower" got me only around 12 results.

But for every example like that, there's five examples where I couldn't find something because even the most basic tags, hadn't been added.

Tags on FA don't mean anything, I gave up on including them years ago.

I do like all those tags on one image, as an artist sometimes I need some references, so if I want an specific theme or character(s) and that tag system allows me to get the images I want, usually by searching 3 or 4 tags at a time is enough to narrow down the images I need.

What cemented gelbooru as one of my favorite websites on the internet was the time I finally noticed if I wanted to find Visual Novels that catered to a fetish (Non-furry stuff mostly) I should use the game_cg tag. My hard drive lost 500GB in size in two weeks from all that juicy crossreferencing.

E621 has helped me find some cool artists that I couldn't otherwise because they had to be memers and fill their tag slot with self deprecating humor rather than actual markers for their image. That happens on tumblr, too.
