>Getting suits in parts
Not the best idea, because a suit head made for a partial and a suit head made for a fullsuit are different enough in scale that you can't really mix and match, the partial head on fullsuit making the head look tiny, and the fullsuit head worn partially being way too big for the body. The suit itself visibly bulks the body up at least a little bit, and if you don't compensate the head size for this bulk-up, it's going to look disproportionate. You can kinda see this in action with >>116684, in the fullsuit pics the head almost looks too small for their body, but it works for what they're going for, while the one in the stairwell, while slightly obscured by the pose and walls, you can see the head is at best approaching way too large for the body, despite being the exact same head.
Unless you have one of those makers who makes all their heads at the complete wrong scale anyway, I've seen a couple makers that their thing is to just make absolutely massive heads that look wrong on everything/anything, you need to make a decision from the beginning and stick with it.

I have a "fur"suit, that's not really a fursuit as it has no fur, it's a dragon and that's the farthest I'm gonna dox myself about it. Made it myself, and while there's plenty of design limitations making it the first time both due to resources and elements that didn't work that I had to compromise on (digitigrade stilts turning into digitigrade padding after I failed to make the stilts for example), I'm pretty happy with how it came out, but absolutely want to start again at some point.

>since no one seems to do the eyes I want
What kind of eyes are we talking? I can personally attest there's no better way to get what you want than to do it yourself, but you need some willingness to go through the time and effort to at least try to do it properly, no one likes it when someone clearly half-asses something.
